I had one on a .223 that I only really shot in fair weather. It was acceptable for that task. Held zero just fine. It was more then likely a Chinese manufacture.
I knew as a little kid that tasco anything was a POS. Years back I was given a Rem700 Varmint in 243Win that was topped with a Tasco Pronghorn. The previous owner gave me the rifle as he was upset with the poor accuracy. He was so upset that he did not want anything to do with the rifle, did not want a penny for it. I brought it to the range and tried it out just for fun with the Tasco and it was like a shotgun pattern at 50 metres. I then mounted and bore sighted an extra Leupold I had on hand and turned out a beautiful tight cloverleaf.
I have about a half dozen old Tasco's from the 70's/80's and they are a decent scope. I bought 2 of the new Tasco pronghorn 3x9x40 about 5 years ago from Crappy tire and they don't compare at all to the old Japanese ones.
