ok i came across this and wanted to share! I thought back to the previous discussions on non lethal rounds, as we all know non lethal means less lethal and so they remain un-attainable in canada.....now as a personal taser is legal, would this round be a viable home defense option? it is definately NON lethal and would allow for restraint and detainment for authorities, no risk of overshot and no long or even mid term side effects (except jail!).......can we get these?

dealers / law enforcement, give us your opinions and thoughts!

I heard recently that a home invader won a "cruel and unusual" lawsuit for the use of a beanbag round from the #### scared home owner..... get this....he was awarded money from the homeowner and never charged with b&e..... now who would you want to be in this scenario? the laws give all the power to the criminals and soon the gov. wants to take our means of self defence....lol! maybe we should just elect the next scumbag gangster into office maybe it will level the playing field. and hey,.....it couldnt be much worse then the scumbags running the show now!!
its not like our democratic vote matters!!
......now perhaps we have a viable and humane option!?!

anyhow, enjoy the video! I sure did!!

ok so some how i forgot about he whole airport incident......perhaps "Definately NON lethal" was a little presumptuous but it is still a great product and given the alternative of getting close enough to actually restrain and protect your family....by hand, you tell me!?!

Ok, I'll bite,

Since when are personal tasers legal? Unless something slipped through in the last 20 minutes, I'm pretty sure they are prohibitted completely so far as civillian use goes.

Personal taser's are not legal in canada, they are prohibited.

I think the MSRP on one of them bad boys would be approx $50ea possibly as much as $200ea tho (just a guess)... so cost would be a big factor for ammo with a limited shelf life.

PLEASE dont take this the wrong way but i am going to be blunt....

just because cop's can shoot people with a taser with the end result being ruled as a accidental or unrelated fatality does not mean a private citizen will get away with it... if the person dies you will most likely go directly to jail, if not they may try to sue you for soft tissue damage or excessive force.

if you threaten another person who has broken into your house with anything other then calling 911 you can be charged... reach for the sky scumbag or i'm going to "SHOOT" at you with my electric bullet... lol.. and you just pointed a firearm at someone... so you can be charged with another offence.

if you cause harm to them while on your property you will be asked to defend your actions (such as soft tissue damage from a LTL round), if you apply any more force then someone other then you who was not there at the time deem's necessary you can be charged and probably will be sued.

last but not least, dead men cant sue you... but there family can.

aint the free world a b!t<h?

1st rule of gun handling. Don't point a gun at anything you aren't willing to destroy.

Less than lethal serves NO purpose for self defense. You can only legally defend yourself if you reasonably believe that you or loved ones are reasonably in danger of life and limb.

If you are in danger of life and limb, your only option is to run and if not possible then lethal force. Why play games to maybe protect the criminal? If it is you or him, put him down. If it is not, then get away.

The way I see it, these things are made for apprehending someone, not defending oneself. They are cool though. Civilians will never see them.

what precisely is your plan for 20 seconds after firing the round when the juice shuts off?

in an ideal world the thief would spend the next 24hr's counting the checkering from my butt plate in the mirror while holding onto a lump of jello that used to be his nose in slim hope it would ever look normal again... thanks for askin :D

I am not saying the shotgun round is legal, but which rule would it fall under? The 3rd one?

A tazer is prhibited.
So would a "stun baton" be exempt if it were 500mm long?

1
The following weapons are prohibited from entering Canada:
Taser and stun guns shorter than 480 mm

2
Former Prohibited Weapons Order No. 3
Any firearm capable of discharging a dart or other object carrying an electrical current or substance, including the firearm of the design commonly known as the Taser Public Defender and any variant or modified version of it.

3
Former Prohibited Weapons Order, No. 3
Any device that is designed to be capable of injuring, immobilizing or incapacitating a person or an animal by discharging an electrical charge produced by means of the amplification or accumulation of the electrical current generated by a battery, where the device is designed or altered so that the electrical charge may be discharged when the device is of a length of less than 480 mm, and any similar device.

The round would be in contravention of all 3 quotes you posted, except for possibly #2 where in your shotgun would also be the prohibited device (read: "its not treated as prohibited untill you break a law with it")

And i dont "think" a tacticool taser baton would make it thru customs BUT a short black discrete cattle prod would probably slide rite thru if it was 481mm+... (re-read: "its not treated as prohibited untill you break a law with it")

clear as mud? good

You realize of course that butt-stroking somebody that badly while they were immobilized and therefore defenceless would transfer the roles 180 degrees - you would move from "aggrieved innocent victim defending home and family" to "Armed perpetrator of an aggravated assault" and said criminal would go from "dirtbag home invasion tweaker" to "misunderstood and brutally wounded victim"

Force is only justified by the criminal code if it is reasonable force. You may not answer force of ANY kind with undue, unnecessary and/or excessive force. Think of the hue and cry that goes up every time a cop is accused of misconduct... now imagine paying your own legal bills for the same thing.

well i did say "in an ideal world"...
and in that same ideal world the ####pump that breaks into my home would be lucky to be alive because when you come into my home, in the middle of the nite, uninvited, to steal from me, harm my family, rape my wife or child and generaly do all manner of unpleasantness you dont deserve to lay on my floor and piss your pants for 20 seconds... you deserve to bleed... ALOT... and "it" would probably be quite happy "it" was still alive... "in an ideal world"... but its not an ideal world so i will just stick with #2 shot because being dead is a much better lesson then a busted nose.
