Taurus 1911 at Gobles Firearms in London and Tillsonburg, Ontario?

Gobles

Hey Guff,

As for places that handle pistols I find that anything close to London is well over priced. So what I have done for all my handgun purchases is buy them from another province and have them shipped to me. I find there is 2 benefits to this. 1. The prices out of Province are much lower then in the London area. 2. When buying a gun out of province you only have to pay one tax... GST only... so thats 6% as opposed to the 14% pst+gst in Ontario. As for out of town dealers, there are lots of good ones, including ones advertised on CGN.

darco, I agree that most gun makers make a lemon once in a while.

but all the reviews I've seen on the Taurus 1911 have been positive no one complained about reliability issues. I haven't seen or shot one myself but if it's anything like my Raging Bull in quality, than it's one fine pistol ;)

Thanks for the info Trac. Any recommendations on dealers and provinces. From what I have read, Alberta seems to be a great Province for firearms purchases. As far as gun shops in Ontaio go, other than the two in London, Tilsonburg and Bass Pro (cough) in Vaughan I don't know of any other alternatives.

Where's richardoldfield ? :runaway: :D

I am here and I reserve comment on the Taurus 1911 as I have no desire ot see/hold/shoot one. I have a running feud with Taurus due to their lack of customer service. If I were looking at an economical 1911 I would look at a Norinco 1911A1 or Springfield 1911A1 Loaded. Both of these weapons, and I do own them, have been flawless. Regards, Richard :D

PS I do not go out of my way to bash Taurus but I do admit I was stung by their lack of customer service

Elwood epps sells Taurus.
No 1911 in stock at the moment

As a youth I knew Elwood Epps when he owned a sporting goods store in Clinton, Ontario. It was a neat place for a young boy to spend time; there was a neat smell in the shop that I cannot describe. It was like oil and wood and not in the least bit musty; the smell was of a warm cozy place. My older cousin Ron Carter's best friend was the late Don Epps. I guess you can tell I have fond memories of the time I spent in Clinton as a youth. I received many used RCAF shirts from the radar station in Clinton and I wore them proudly. I described myself as a Canadian Opie Taylor. Regards, Richard :D
