Who sale the new Taurus TP1911 ?

No one yet as far as I know...

FN Sport was supposed to be brining them-in in March, but when I called a month ago they didn't have them yet. Will have to call them again....

D-Boy, I wrote this for a response to a similar question on another board. It bears merit:

"After speaking to my two gunsmiths (Marianne Carniak and #### Williams) I would opt for the RIA. Marianne was emphatic and said she has had to do too much work on the Taurus 1911s to get them to function properly. To date, my RIA has been great! Regards, Richard::D"

Any idea of ballpark $?
around $700-750 for the blued, and $750+ for the stainless (not out yet).

PT1911 doesn't need any work done to function properly (that’s according to hundreds of range reports I've read on the US forums.)
Taurus 1911 has a forged frame, slide and barrel (IIRC) :) It’s been said many times that PT1911 is the best 1911 value for the money!

Intresting
So the whole taurus customer service, trying to get parts thing would not be a problem with one of these. Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

However I already have a Colt 1911, so I think my next 1911 will be a Norc.

IM_Lugger,

Dude, despite my best efforts, you've definitely gone and drunk that "Taurus Koo-Aid!":D :D :D :D More power to you!:D :onCrack: In all seriousness now, guys looking at purchasing Taurus products should really take another look at what Richard posted. Taurus has Quality Control issues, most of their parts are cast, & they have next to NO Customer Service in Canada!

I'm not trashing Taurus, I actually own an older PT-92 that I like, and which can give most Beretta's a run for their money. However, I got an excellent deal on it and paid less than half retail. Would I go and purchase a new Taurus today & pay retail for it? Nope!

There are better choices out there from manufacturers that actually support their product. I'd even go buy a Norinco 1911 from Marstar & tweak it to my personal taste before dropping a dime on the Taurus these days. If they opt to begin supporting their product in the future, I'd consider them, but not as it stands now.

That said, if you're old enough to legally own a restricted firearm, you're old enough to make up your own mind. Choosing a new pistol is a personal choice that only you can make. If it "feels" right to you and you want it, go for it!:)

It looks to me like it's expensive for what you get, given a choice you can get a Tanfo for much less, and the service is a known quantity.

X-man… LOL

Well my .44mag has been 100%… I know Taurus revolvers are made from drop hammer forged steel.

Also the thing about PT1911 is that it’s a 1911; you can get parts for it anywhere! So CS is a not an issue here. Personally I have no experience their CS, so can’t comment on it. But I’m guessing that 99% of people that talk crap about it have no first hand experience with Taurus CS and moist never seem a Taurus…

Btw there was a post a while ago about XD and how it took 9 month for a guy to get this gun back, but one seems to be saying Springfield has no CS...

IMO Taurus guns are great value for the money even at the retail prices. I was quoted $750 for a stainless PT1911, I mean what other loaded 1911 in stainless can you get for $750? Springfield bare bone 1911 will be at least $100 more.

You could get a Tanfoglio for 589.00 (fixed sights) and support a Gunnutz supporting dealer.

Actually, Springfield Armory customer support sucks ass too as does their Quality Control, AND they use a crap load of MIM/cast parts...a lot of which is made in Brazil!!! I had two Springfield 1911s that I bought new a couple of years back. Had nothing but trouble with them. Couldn't get satisfaction from SA INC...finally said enough is enough and sold both of them at a loss because I chose to tell the prospective buyers my experience with the pistols. I wouldn't dare touch a Springfield 1911 these days.

It's not stainless! plus they looks a bit rough (for the price), I'd rather get a Norinco if I wanted a low end 1911...

Brazil is the largest iron ore source currently. Most countries that manufacture steel source from Brazil....but Brazil simply can't manufacture up to standard compared with most other countries.

FYI stainless model is not out yet (even in US)...blued PT1911 should've been here in March :( -will have to call FN sports and ask what's the hold up.

I called around a few places are are the prics I got

Williams Arms quoated me $750!

Shooters choce told me the price will be either $750 or 760 (don't remmeber which one)

Wholesale sports will be a Taurus dealer soon :) they quoated me $760

*all prices are for stainless model, blued is less...
