I've been looking all over hells half acre trying to find a Taurus, preferably a Raging Judge Magnum but would be happy with a Raging Bull in .454 Casull 5" stainless for both. I can't seem to find one anywhere in any of the stores I have checked in Canada......anyone have any leads or know if there is an issue with Taurus shipping to Canada, or a demand shortage...waiting list or what?

If Taurus is an issue can anyone recomend a good .454 caliber revolver no longer than 5" as an alternative that is available in Canada. I know the 460 S&W, but I'm not a fan of the muzzle brake on that revolver, If that is all that is available then I guess I have to go S&W.

If anyone has a Taurus sitting in thier safe not being used, I may have some interesting trades from tuned AR's/hand guns/ US Optics spotting scope, eotech.....or plain old money :)

I was looking for a RB 454 Casull at the beginning of the month, couldn't find a single one in Canada, I was told the earliest there will be more coming in is mid July, so I settled on a 44 mag RB and I only found 1 store that had any.

I don't think I've seen a 5" 454 in Canada in a long time, usually just the 6.5" and 8 3/8".

I've also been looking for a S&W 460V and have found only 1 store that has a couple in stock, PM me for info if you want.

The Ruger Super Redhawk comes in 454 Casull, but good luck finding one. And Freedom Arms comes in 454 Casull, obviously, but I don't think they make a short barrel revolver.

Word on the Taurus forums is that they're working on a Raging Bull in 45/70 Government.

I'm waiting for that one.

I like large revolvers......

These two are awesome to shoot

The raging judge is a sweet revolver. I've got 3500 45lc through it 4-500 454cas through it and ~500 misc magnum shot shells and it still works great in single or double and can shoot 6inch groups at 25m with my twitchy ass behind it.

Not sure who has them but they are worth the money

Having both the Raging Judge and the 460 which do you prefer, how secure is the muzzle break on the 460 and does it loosen over time?

Muzzle brake is rock solid.

I like them both, but there is something so cool (albeit useless) about shooting shotgun shells out of a revolver....

Then again, there is something cool about 22oo fps out of a revolver!

Given the fact that you're open to either....my choice would be the 460v.
4" "barrel" with a 1" comp = awesome

A few quick thoughts to hopefully help you out. First, I always shoot my 460 with muzzle brake installed and never had a problem but I believe you can fire the gun without brake installed. Second is I love my Super Redhawk in .480 and there's nothing my .480 can't do that a .454 Casull will. Third is that I've been steered away from Taurus because of reportedly poor customer service, reportedly poor manufacturing, and the complications of warrantee and maintenance issues (parts have to be imported to the U.S. then Canada).

I love .454 Casulls, but I love .460 Smith and Wesson Magnums more. If you're gonna do it, why not do it right? If you want a more practical firearm, again, Ruger Super Redhawk. My opinion may be more limited than some, but I still believe the Ruger is the best firearm you can buy for the money. The .454 Casull may operate at a higher pressure, but here's a tool to show you it's effectiveness compared to the .480 Ruger too: http://www.reloadammo.com/tkofactor2.htm

Good points, and if I had a choice I would love a Ruger In 454. I own a few in .44 mag but the Alaskan is the only .454 I could find.....but prohib in Canada. I would like to be no longer than a 5-5.5" barrel as my optimum. I really like single actions and am starting to do homework on the Freedom arms pistols...but they are pricey. It is looking like the S&W .460 is going to be the best bang for my buck and prefered size.

I have done more homework on the Taurus and agree with your advise that i would have money better spent on another maker. I sure wish Ruger made a .454 super blackhawk in a 4.75" or 5.5", I would be all over it. I really like my .44 mag.
