Hi,

I have a PT1911 that I find ok for the price I paid. I polished the slide sides and put a fiber optic sight on it and changed the grips. It looks very nice. However, even after polishing the trigger components (with the exception of the sear which I do not have the tools for), I still have a heavy 8lbs+ trigger measured with my Weaver gauge. The polishing helped a little bit, but I am wondering if changing the springs with a Wolff kit would get it down enough. What springs would you change and what tension? The gunsmiths in my area are...questionnable, so looking for something I could do by myself.

Thanks.

I have the PT1911 and broke down and bought the sear jig. The sear was about 10 thou to high and the hammer hooks needed a bit of stoning too. Polished the trigger bar and track. Now have a consistent 4 pound pull. Didn't have to touch the sear spring at all.
It really isn't that hard to do the work yourself just go SLOW and check repeatedly as you are working. Lots of good videos online.
