Well I was at Ellmwood Epps today, Me and my Buddy Thor74, we are 1911 junkies and we spent oh, 1 hour lookig at 1911s . Well here are the reviews.

Sti Trojan , Nice gun , not bad at all, but plastic mainsprig housing.
Kimber Desert Warrior, MIM Gun, Cast slide, not worth $1400, 2 thumbs down
Colt Gold cup Trophy, , buy a norinco, you'll have a nicer gun. 2 thumbs down
Willson Combat, Commander, Well, I'm in love..........:dancingbanana:
Sig Sauer,GSR, Nice gun, well made, nice everthing except the price $1500+
Smith & Wession SW1911, Not bad, The trigger rattled around in the gun, quility control prolbem, all and all, not that impressed.

The winner, best bang for the buck, The Tautus PT1911B-1 Not bad at all. Good over all fit and finish, sweet sights, nice trigger pull, all steel, nice checkering on the frame, front and rear side serrations.some MIM but at $780 , This was a nice gun . Kimber, Colt,Smith & wession, What are you guys doing??????

If I was looking for a full size Goverment, I would go with this, Now These are my handling impressions. I did not fire these guns, so

All and All, I was Damm Impressed, And from a Taurus, go figure.

Is this what you are talking about? I'm not a big Taurus fan, but this might just turn me around.

Taurus has as much MIM as any other 1911. In fact, almost all internals are MIM. And I'm not sure where you goit the idea that Kimber has a cast slide - it doesn't.

I heard stories about Taurus's service sucking, any truth to that? Nice lookin pistol though.

Don't know about their service in the State but for sure none in Canada, but it really didn't matter because you can buy 1911 parts else where. From what I have seen, all taurus guns are very well made.

Trigun

+1 to what Trigun said!

I've been following the PT1911 since they came out about two years ago (only made it to Canada now) and pretty much everyone who's got one loves it! Pretty good chance I'll end up getting one myself at some point :)

You ####ing better get one :)
With all the Taurus nuthugging you do on here I can't beleive you haven't bought one yet.:p

Isn't Taurus imported by R Nichols? That should pretty much shatter any dreams of service, or spare parts for that matter.

You f**king better get one :)

Seriously....seeing how he recommended it to just about every newbie asking for advice on their first pistol, you'd figure IM_Lugger would be grabbing the first unit to make it across the border.

Taurus, Colt, HK, Ruger, SigArms, Springfield...they're all destributed by FN/R nichols...

You f**king better get one :)
The reasons I haven't bought one (not that I need to explain it to anyone) is because of the front grip checkeing - for most people it's a plus but I prefer smoth...I'd like to handle one first but it doesn't look unconfortable. I'm also wating for price qutes from a couples dealers. Not to mention I only found out that the stainless model is availabe less then a week ago! ;)

capp, if you only recommend guns you own doesn't it make you biased? :)

Pier, what did you think about the checkering?

Do you remember any of this?
^Is that tape on that grip? soulds like you would like PT1911 (comes with checkered grip):D
About the Spartan; I've never been a fan of parkarized finish. I would like to see better photos of the gun, but so far I prefer the looks of the PT1911 to be honest. No to mention it is about $50 more...with less features (no chekering, or ambi safety)
You have been plugging the checkered front strap for months......

You did a search ?!

As I said "most people" prefer checkered (and companies charge extra for it!), I prefer smooth (but most of my guns do have chekered grips...)

You f**king better get one :)
With all the Taurus nuthugging you do on here I can't believe you haven't bought one yet.:p

LOL:wave:

I've been waiting for it as well. I Thought it would not be here until the summer, if at all!!

NICE!!! Comes in Duo-Tone as well. And Grey/Black Aluminum.

The one @ Epps is Sold :(

Pt 1911 Stainless

I picked mine up from Perkins Variety in Pembroke for $870.00 tx inc. two weeks ago. So far I have only had time to put 150 rounds down range and feel it to be no better accuracy wise than the 1911 I put together from parts 18 years ago. Mind you , having said that I should also add that I have fired Colt gold cup national match pistols that were no better than my "parts " gun so I can't really fault the Taurus on that score and it is no way near broken in yet either! Time and a whole lot more shooting will eventually tell the tale in regards to accuracy/reliability. Will be interesting to see just how much bang for the buck I do get! Great trigger ,fit and finish, sights etc. but I will reserve any judjements untill I have had more time to properly evaluate this puppy with a greater variety of loads. Mike

Probably a good choice.

I saw and handled the Taurus 1911 at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas this year. It is a nice, well put together 1911 that has some nice features.
Some of the extra features would cost plenty elsewhere.
The Taurus would stack up against the Springfield entry level 1911, the Colt 1991 or perhaps the entry level Kimber.
Forget that Chi-com reverse-engineered almost-a-gun. Most guys buy that junk and replace everything but the frame and slide. If all the parts are factory junk why keep the frame and slide?

Money/cost seems to be the biggest factor on this site, save the H&K and the Sig guys, so, if you want to maximize your bucks for a truly nice 45acp, just buy a Glock21SF for C$699.00

There , I posted a picture of the gun I was Talking about, oh as for what weight does my opinion matter, it dosen't, its an arm chair review, but Its not like they let us shot them in the store, maybe in Darko's basement but not at Ellmwood Epps. These are the first handling inpression's I got from handling these 1911's. All and all, I was impressed with the Pt1911B-1, Now this is no high end 1911 but for $780 , Now the Kimber Desert Warrior was $1400 plus , and it was not twice the gun, not at all, it felt just as cheep. .I would change the hammer in the PT1911B-1 though, it has some safty lock on it, you know insert something into the top of the hammer and lock it, it sucked, any safty system other than my finger is Crap........
