a close friend is looking at purchasing one of these she lives 10 minutes from impact guns in utah how ever she is not very knolageable about fire arms and i know little about pistols http://www.taurususa.com/products/product-details.cfm?id=355&category=Pistol likly this model what can people tell me about them good/bad/norinco bad :nest: i haven't seen any dealers for this company in canada so i don't know if any one knows any thing about them

I was messing around with a Taurus pistol in .45 the other day. Unloaded but I did dry fire it. The trigger was pretty mediocre on it and I wasn't that impressed with the fit/feel of the firearm. That was only one model and their own design. The Beretta models may be different.

The pimped out look doesn't really do much for me. Sort of like tacky vehicle add ons.

Let me start with I am no fan of Taurus semiautomatic weapons because of Taurus' lack of customer service. With that said, the PT92 9mm Pistol is one fine handgun. My only reservation is the PT 92 is a large weapon and it may be too big for her hands. I am sure your friend should rent it, handle it, shoot it, and then think about buying the PT92 9mm. Regards, Richard:D

What is her reason for wanting the firearm? intended use is what I am looking for here. Protection? Not such a good choice IMO. These pistols do have larger grips, and for smaller female hands will likely be uncomfortable/cumbersome.

hmmmm she liked it cause it looked nice al be it abit tacky i tryed to get her a nice tactical sig with suppreser screw she said she didn't like tacticool guns

i don't know if she wants it for defense lack of customer support is a deal killer

glock might be a good they arn't to bad price wise either with in her range and still afford a decent 22 for plinking so i'll tell her to forget the taurus.

other then the glock what are some other good entry priced 9mm hand guns?

SIG was a good choice.

Glock as already mentioned (not a fan of the S&W MP series).

CZ-85 combat is a very nice little gun and may fit her fairly decently (if she doesn't want a glock and prefers steel I'd probably recommend this.Trigger is good, it's smaller so fit will most likely be good, and they shoot very well). The combat model has adjustable sights which I consider a real bonus.

Frankly she'll probably have the most fun with a .22. Ruger MKIII target model 5 1/2 bull barrel in stainless would probably be a good fit. Browning makes some nice .22 plinker/entry target pistols as well.

Tell her to get it!

PT92 is a great gun and in the states you can't beat the price. Do a search on the model, visit TautusArmed.net, you won't find much negrative things about them if any! It's a very relaible, accurate gun (some of the best handgun shooting/groups I've seen was done with PT92!).

If memory serves, Taurus is the old Beretta factory in Brazil. They were using the same tooling/dies as the Beretta 92F (hence the similarity of the PT92).
If imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... go with the Beretta.
IF your friend is located in the US - potential for better customer service with Beretta USA.
She might also want to try it on for size - Beretta (and Taurus) have large grips - so will it fit in her hand comfortably.
Also it bit bulky for CCW

I've owned a PT99 for going on 15 years or so and love it.
Like mentioned above, customer service in Canada sucks but it shouldn't be an issue in the States as Tarus is based out of Miami.
Also like mentioned above..the pt series is a full size frame and there is a very good chance it will be to big for her hand.
If she is chosing a handgun based on how it looks...she's heading for a lot of grief.
She needs to chose one that fits her hand and points naturally for her.

I think he works for Tautus:p:p

why? everyone complains about lack of customer service in Canada (even thought most people who do never seen one in person), but in US you woudn't have that problem. Not to mention you can buy one there for under $400USD new!

The Taurus 92 is a fine gun. We had one at our range that we used to loan out to whoever wanted to use it. We had this gun for about 5 years and I can't begin to say how many thousands of rounds it fired, and we never a hitch with that gun. The size of the gun may be an issue to your friend though, so she should try one before buying. Another fine gun you may want to look at is the CZ75/85 line. They now have a 75 in stainless that I tried and it looks and works great. I plan to get one myself when it comes out in 40 cal. Good luck.
