Hey all, I just got a used but good condition PT99 AF. Who has one and what should I know about these things as far as known issues and stuff like that?

I only got one mag, where is a good place to buy some spares? (good quality stuff not crap mags)

Pics and a range report to follow once I have it home and to the range.

I've had one for over 20 years, thousands of rounds down the pipe.
I had to replace the Locking Block after about 15000 rounds.
My slide is cracked where the pin that holds the rear sight goes in, other then those 2 issues, I've really enjoyed her.

Do Beretta locking blocks interchange? My understanding is that Taurus parts are generally unavailable.

I don't know if the Beretta made 92 mags will fit in the Taurus, but I really like the quality of my Beretta made mags for my 92.

They aren't cheep by any stretch of the imagination, but they are very good mags. Even Better if you can find the All Metal ones.

I looked into it, and no Beretta mags don't exactly fit, although they can be made to fit fairly easily.

I shot it today; she ate 50 rounds of 124Gr Blazer like it was candy. Fun pistol to shoot. I shot 2 mags while laying on the ground and rolling over and over again... just like Mel Gibson in Lethal Weapon. LOL no I didn't

Ya other than the locking block which has a 5k to 15k round life (longer if you use the new Beretta part) the guys at TaurusArmed speak very highly of them, some saying they are the best pistol Taurus makes.

I did find the grip a bit thick for my hands though; It's kind of a bummer, as I really like it otherwise. I may swap it for a 1911. Those I really like. (love)

I used to have 5 of them both PT92AF & PT99AFD models my buddy was a beretta user. none of the Beretta mags will work, an nore will the slides swap. I liked the Taurus because you can go cocked & locked, takedown was very just like a Beretta. out of the 5 Taurus guns only one could shoot to my standards at 25 yards no problem shooting the thumb tacs off my target on aimed rapid fire. on the other 4 Taurus guns they just wouldn't shoot well to make me happy. if you ended up with one of my old Taurus guns you have a 1 in 5 chance of having a tac driver. Just go to the Steinbach GC & try some thumb tac shooting, it would make for a good test.

Taurus warrenty in Canada SUCKS!!! since 9/11 and the updated US gun laws. you will find it very hard to get your gun fixed. I sent my tac driver to Taurus back in the mid 90's to get the mags fixed as they didn't drop from the mag well smooth enough. no problems back then just mailed it to them in Florida but them days are long gone.

PS: Don't forget to clean the range when your done, it's always a mess. ;)

I was there yesterday... cleaned up around 1000 9mm brass. I put a few shots downrange, and at 15 yards I shot a 3" 10 shot group, it was kinda windy and it was my first time shooting it, so I was impressed. :)

Ya the range is a mess, .223, 7.62x39 brass everywhere, the fence is destroyed and there is trash all over. Clean-up is soon though.
