What do you think guys as my first revolver in 44mag? All I know is when comes to revolver it must be S&W like colt for 1911. Any input from current and previous owners? I would love to hear your valuable thoughts before I pull the trigger.

any feedback, much appreciated!

Just got my first revolver, well, actually I got two at the same time, 627 PC & 629 4.2" Canadian. Couldn't be happier with both. And YES, I bought S&W for the exact reason you said below. Maybe I will get other revolvers later, but the first one should always be a S&W or Colt. :)

from what ive held they feel like chit, cheap and not great. also as far as i know, and i could very well be wrong but if they break youll never get parts in canada, and its a pain in the #### or impossible to send it out for repairs.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯ i like mine. I have a blued 8 3/8. Don't know about warranty, but finding a scope mount is next to impossible. My trigger is nice and light, it locks up tight and I shoot iron sights to 200 yards regularly. the grip and porting really really helps with recoil.

Had a Raging Judge Magnum, never had an issue with that beast other than the cost of 410 ammo (don't reload for that).

A well built tank of a wheel gun. Is it up to the fit/finish and quality of an old S&W, nope but not much is. I'd rank Rugers as tougher but Taurus does make a decent wheel gun IMO.

Well friend, I have a Taurus Raging Bull in .44 Magnum with the 6 inch barrel, as well as a S&W model 629 with the 8 3/8 barrel. They are both great guns that are great to handle and shoot great as well. The only minor issue that I find is that the Taurus has two locks for the cylinder. This isn't a big deal, but can be a bit of a pain in the arse compared to the S&W. But make no mistake, both are great guns.

I've owned 3 Raging Bulls, sold 2, still own 1. They are great revolvers, accurate and tough as nails. I kept the one in 44 mag and now have over 3200 rounds through it without any issues. I sold the 2 I had in 454 Casull because ammo was expensive and with my 460V I didn't really need them, but they were also great revolvers. The people who slag the Raging Bull are usually S&W fan boys who have never owned an RB. For firing the hottest loads and the heaviest bullets I would trust my RB over a Smith any day.

I got one in .44mag 6.5" stainless about 10 years go but sold it few years after. it was an awesome gun and one of very few I regret selling :( accurate, nice trigger. I'd say go for it!!

edit: I also owned Ruger and S&W as well, so my revolver experience isn't limited to just Taurus.

The 460V is in my bucket list but the price made me fall in love with the raging bull. Also, like the Colt snakes but the price is so prohibitive.

I wonder what revolver you've own for comparison and did you get a chance to test fire it?

Yeah, really need those grip and porting for this caliber.

I'm not so familiar with fit and finish of a revolver, how do you compare the cylinder/barrel fit or alignment of a Taurus and S&W?

Pardon my ignorance but I'm liking the double lock idea of the raging bull.

Great! sounds like an exciting wheel gun. Is it expensive to reload a 454 Casull? I saw a 5" RG in 454 Casull and it really look so good to me.

I'm leaning on the 6.5" 44 mag but the 5" 454 Casull is bugging me.

Thanks to all of you guys and appreciate your inputs.

454 isn't too expensive to reload for. Lots of bullet selection as it uses a .452 bullet, everything from 200gr jacketed to 340gr hard cast.

after I sold it I told myself eventually I'll get another one, I haven't yet but 5" stainless in .454 would be my pick! (they don't make a 5" .44 :() that's for ###y beast for sure! and you can shoot/relaod .45Colt.

Thank you sir, that made me think of the 5" 454 casull.

Too bad the 5" 454 Casull is almost 1.3K here at my LGS. I wish they make the 5" 44mag or much even shorter, 4.2" Canadian raging bull.
