Tavor-21 gen 3s???

Here! Try this!

The best way to think of it now is that there are four kinds of Tavors available in Canada. Now I guess we should say "six" since the announcements from North Sylva recently.

Gen 1 was imported by Canada ammo, and came with a Mepro 21 optic clamped to the barrel. Some 15" IDF CTAR barrels also came in during this time period. Looks like this:

The Gen 1.5 was a $300 upgrade available for the last two Can-Am batches of Tavors. Gen 1.5 is identical in every way, except that it included a factory pica-tinny rail and its Mepro 21 was quick detach. Many people with Gen 1 Tavors have converted them to Gen 1.5 to allow for more optics than just the Meprolight. Looks like this:

Gen 2 Tavors were brought in by North Sylva, and feature a full flattop rail. Most of these have integral BUIS and often come with some unusual iron sights off the shelf. These units use a lighter polymer body and have a different texture than the Gen 1 and 1.5 models.

IWI US Tavors have been imported by IrunGuns, although I've never seen one on Canadian soil. These units come with 16" or 18" barrels. They are restricted, feature a lighter trigger, and have QD sling mounts in the hand guard and rear receiver. They are a flattop with integral BUIS, and have a body that is very similar to the Gen 2. Looks like this:

All Canadian Tavors are under the TAR-21 model name. The IWI US Tavors are called SAR-21s, on account of their unique trigger pack and receiver insert. The IWI US Tavors seem to be compatible in terms of barrels with Canadian Tavors, but BCG and trigger packs are supposedly not interchangeable.

Recently North Sylva introduced FDE Tavor's with an 18.5" barrel that are true Israeli units. They have also brought in a number of CTAR style Tavors with a full rail system and 15" barrels which are restricted.

I'm not sure what you'd consider a "Gen 3" Tavor.

Just thought that as the 1.5 then 2s came out, will the natural evolution take us to a three or a better or totally different design.

I mean in comparison to the FDE rifles available in the USA which are SAR-21s.

And no, there is no Gen 3 Tavor coming. The natrual evolution has been in use in Israel for years now:

Thanks for the input guys, sucks the x95s will all be restricted though

How would they not be? Look at the barrel length

As for the FDE Tavors that NS has announced we will be getting a member here I PM with quite often got the chance to grab one(hopefully a second for me to go with black one) and it didn't come with side rail attached. Is that something that is new with the latest batches or possibly an oversight?

Really? Because there is a bullpup rifle that the Singapore military uses called the SAR-21. Seems weird they would use the same name.

I don't know that all are the same, nor did I know that the US made Tavor was called the "Sar-21" but since I have been purchasing a lot of my bullpup accessories from the US I know that they considered "Tar" and "Sar" under the same classification as far as mags and other accessories

What Barrel length is that M95? Very cute looking piece. I don't think we ever going to get that over here, and Hope that I am wrong.

So os the x95 the same firearm with some minor differences or is it a better, newer design? Looks like he's holding a longer barrel one as well :)
