Tavor-21 reliability

Just buy one already!

I just sighted mine in. No problems with Pmags, LAR's, USGIs, and cheap AE ammo. I think it's my new favourite. My ARs are gonna become the step-child I never pay attention to. HAHA.

I had mine out for the first time this week--only fired 70 or so rounds but no problems. They're surprisingly comfortable and easy shooting rifles--I know no 5.56 rifle is going to have a lot of kick but the Tavor is very smooth shooting. I don't think I've ever seen a post here where someone has had an issue with their Tavor. Quit stallin' an buy one already! :)

I WANT ONE....BAD.!

I put 1600 rounds through mine in a single day with no problems aside from me being a dumbass and covering the ejection port twice. The bolt catch looks like it might have to be replaced due to wear, but it still works 100%. Excellent rifle.

i havent had any problems with mine super reliable my favourite gun i own hands down i have hunted with it in -18 plus wind chill i personally have not had any issues if the tavor design was not proving it self in the field iwi would not make other models of the tavor and the idf wouldn't be using it go buy one and have fun

There are a few things you need to get around when using one, but these are are covered with some training and practice.

Recoil seems non-existent, for a sub 8 lb rifle, it is surprisingly easy to handle. The rearward weight makes the rifle point fast, although I did clip my chin abit hard (uppercutted myself with the butt when bringing the rifle to shoulder from a high ready position. That rearward weight comes up fast Won't happen again that is for sure.)

Reloading takes a few repetitions to get down, especially with the bolt release being just rearward of the magazine well. Speaking of which, does anyone have a better method of manually locking the bolt open other than pulling on the bolt release "button?"

Balance is unusually good (coming from piston AR's and Swiss Arms Carbines) with the bulk of the weight close to your body, transitioning from target to target is remarkably easy. In fact, the first few times I overshot the target by a few inches moving left to right and back.

There is a hand groove right behind the grip that makes for a perfect carry position.

About the only thing that upset me was when I mounted my Leupy 1-4 on it, I could not deploy the integrated back up iron sights. A minor finagle, but pretty much my only complaint next to the heavy trigger (which isn't as heavy as it "sounds" because it is crisp with no creep) Alot of people will be turned off by the heavy trigger, even with the spring removed, it is about 6-7 lbs from what I recall. Not target AR quality, but it still is good. 1st gen Tavors with the Meprolight 21 mounted I remember reading alot of complaints about the heaviness of the trigger, my issue with the first gen was the Meprolight washing out in bright daylight and of course, the ugly double fire.

I would love to own more of these 2nd gen full rail examples, it definitely shows the rifle is evolving well.

My advice, sell your car to get one. Do it now.

Meh... I had one of those with the full rail thingy on top and it was so bad that I decided to DEWAT it. There was something wrong with it where the bolt would just stay open when loading a mag... it simply wouldn't close automatically when a mag was inserted and I had no time to d*ck around with the warranty services somewhere in Israel.

But, since DEWATs are essentially useless, I simply cut it up into pieces and surrendered the plastic receiver portion to the local cop shop. A good way of getting rid of a bad rifle. I am now the proud owner of an SKS.

:)

OK.. I am kidding... but the guy below, however, seems to be having issues with his:

Another 240 rds today. About 1000 so far. No issues. A couple ftf's but always from American eagle 223.
The military 855 stuff runs hard, fast and straight. Wish I'd bought more than 900.
So far the less expensive 5.56 no corrosive surplus com block stuff is working great too.
