Except that in Alberta:

"It is unlawful to set out, use or employ any of the following items for the purpose of hunting big game:
ammunition of less than .23 calibre"

Well no, I'd have no intention of installing a brake, can't stand them. My curiosity was simply because of the bullpup design and the ear's closer proximity to the muzzle. I guess my question was if the perceived noise is considerably more than a regular 20-22" bolt rifle in 223.
 
Oh probably. I don't know if I've ever really thought about it as I wear double ear pro at the range but usually forget to install plugs when hunting, but it's just one shot. Still does damage to your ears but I tend not to notice.

No real muzzle blast because it's a full-size barrel at least 18".

True, but the ear's proximity to the muzzle is a lot closer. Found this on another forum:

"Sound intensity from a "point source", like the muzzle of a gun, will follow the inverse square law whether source of the sound is moved away or moved toward the ear.
If the muzzle is 20" away from your ear and you move it so that it is 10" from your ear, the intensity of the sound will increase by the factor of four (400%)."

Anyhow, I don't want to derail this thread. It's just hard to find info on this as pretty much everyone shoots a Tavor with hearing protection.
Since the flash hider is removable, maybe they make a thread protector? Could help with noise level.

I'll probably be taking my Swiss Arms out with me for the Ontario rifle season in about a week. I'll make sure to post pics if I get anything with it.
