Okay...I have a couple of Optics-related Tavor-type questions. I'm hoping that CanAm or somebody else can fill me in.

-CanAm's website lists the Tavor "Picatinny rail" at $299. Is this the adaptor that allows the use other optics in lieu of the included reflex sight?

-If so, what sort of height does this rail sit at? I'd like to have a 1-4X scope (a la Short Dot) on my potential future Tavor.

-Will these "Picatinny rail" items be available for purchase at the same time as the Tavor?

-Do you foresee particular requirements in terms of eye relief for scopes mounted on this rail? I'm thinking that this might be an issue if I attempted to mount a short dot type optic with conventional rings as opposed to a LaRue type mount.

-Once the included reflex sight is taken off of the Tavor, could it be mounted to another rifle? Would this require a particular adaptor? Or is the base of this sight specific to the Tavor?

-Is there a specific accessory needed to mount a rail type accessory on the forward part of the rifle (flashlight/laser/espresso maker), or is it a matter of removing covers that are currently on existing rails?

I understand that this is a brand new product, so I understand that answers might not be available for all of these questions.

If you happen to have tentative ship dates on the Tavors and/or the surplus 7.62 and 5.56 you're bringing in, that'd be great too. I understand if we're still in the "it gets here when it gets here" mode though. After all the eagerness and unhappiness over in the M14S threads, I can understand not wanting to forecast a date if you're not 100% sure that the planets will align to get your container through. :p

This would normally be something we would answer in an email. Also all these questions are answered in the main Tavor thread. You can find details of the rail in the military brochure on our site.

The simple answer for the base is that the gun come with a pic base, actually 2 pads, on which the M21 base is mounted.. You could just use a riser to mount a scope, or our pic base.

Maybe give me a call sometime 1-866-960-0045

Cheers,

Chris

A reply inside 30 minutes. That's service. :)

Sold. :)

Mr. CanAm was very helpful when I called with some questions, and I'm sold on the concept. 1:7 rifle length barrel, piston operation, compact size, non-restricted, I can upgrade the optics, and bullpuppy Kewl factor.

Who can piss off the most libs with one magazine? The dude with the Tavor. :D
