Wich one would you all recommend and for what reasons? Anyone know where to get them, and can you find a tavor in tan or or OD in canada?? Whats the price for a Tavor?

I have both. Your question is hard to answer, as they are very different rifles, and it really depends on what you want it for.

Both are great rifles, IMHO, but if I could keep only one, it would be the tavor. Excellent ergonomics, affordable ammo, very reliable, takes 10-round mags, reasonably accurate, and lightweight. The trigger is mediocre, though.

However, if you want a rifle for hunting midsize game, take the RFB - excellent trigger, heavier round, decently accurate. Ergonomics of the bolt release and mag release are not nearly as good as the tavor, though. The only other thing I don't like about it is the fact that I can't check the chamber without removing the mag. Still can't get used to that.

Tavor's a bit more expensive than an RFB (by about $400ish new), and I've only seen them in black.

i would recomend both for various reasons.

rfb makes a good deer rifle as .308 is a excellent round for deer and mid size game. RFB is goof for lefties or rightes as well. it is also cheaper the the tavor. mags will be harder to come buy and cost more for them. RFB is also cheap and unatractive looking IMO. the last part is just my personal preference though.

tavor is a little bit better for accuarcy. good for general range fun. .223 is also cheaper for the pocket book. .223win is a good round for smaller game like yotes and what not. tavor can take 10 round mags whereas the RFB cant. tavors retail for 2700$ at various dealers up top. tavor is not ambidetrious either. you need a to purchase a left handed bolt it you use it as a southpaw.

i recomend the tavor as i own one. they are also battle proven. i have a muslim guy at my gun club who wouldnt touch my tavor because it was made in israel. he told me he didnt want to touch the gun that kills his brothers back in the homeland. tavors inspire that much fear. lol

I own both... and they are totally differnent beasts.

It depends on your purpose, but overall with my experience with them, I prefer the RFB.

Somthing about the Tavor... I just don't like it. There is more then there needs to be in that gun... far too complicated for what it should be.

Just my .02

I have both. Like 'em both for different reasons! If its big game hunting your going to be using the rifle for, then the RFB comes ahead (IMHO) simply because it's 308...

Cheers
Jay

I've got a Tavor, and one of the older guys at work has the Desert Storm RFB.

I like my Tavor of course. I'm getting used to the trigger, and love the ergonomics of holding and manipulating it. While I can't hunt in Alberta with .223, the Tavor is the only one of my guns that both my little sister and my girlfriend are willing to shoot.

Also interesting you mentioned the Muslim guy. One of my room-mate's friends is from Egypt and was visiting when the brought it home. He was pumped until I told him about where it came from. Just didn't seem that keen afterwards.

Tavor also gets the ten round mag. Good times.

I have both, and love both, but for different reasons as stated by others. The trigger on the RFb is light years ahead of the tavor, and I like the shorter length of pull on the stock of the rfb. The tavor is more reliable imhO. However since I tweaked my RFB it has been rock solid. Get both

I'd have to agree as well - Tavor, hand's down. In fairness, I don't hunt - so the RFB has less of an appeal than it might if I did. The Tavor also takes any magazines: PMAG/EMAG (looks like both now need a minor modification to prevent wear in the Tavor), Lancer, Cammenga, standard steel 30-round AR magazines and the LAR-15s, of course.

It is relatively easy to maintain and clean, and it's ambidextrous (with the LH bolt) for south-paws. The ergonomics are great (only the FS2000 is slightly better), side charging handle and I like the fact that there's not a lot of bells and whistles with it; it just feels and shoots great.

The only real downside is the trigger. If they had a Geissele trigger kit for a Tavor I'd be all over that in a heartbeat!

The only other thing that I might add is that the Tavor and FS2000 are probably a better comparison, with the RFB and XCR-M probably a good match-up as well.

I also have both. If I could only have one it would be the Tavor. Great ergonomics, battle tested and takes AR mags. That being said I like my RFB for the reasons others have stated.

The RFB is a hunting rifle - it is reliable enough for that purpose but it won't be something I take to resist zombies invasion.

TAVOR is military hardware, and you can expect the minimum durability and reliability of a piece of properly designed military equipment. However, it also means that it is designed for conscripts so it is not like the most refined sporting rifle.

What do you want to do with the rifles?

Another thing with the RFB is that it's finicky with mags. On the other hand it is nice to have that much firepower in such a compact non restricted rifle.

Nice, Thanks guys! Just want the gun for shooting right now, possibly get into hunting at a later date. I love the look of both and like the forward ejection on the rfb, but think that tavor is a nicer looking gun by far. Anyone know if u can get a tan one in canada?? anyone know where i can get one in BC? and where can i find the best deal? canadaammo charges 3300 for one!! thats a little out of my price range for now. although im sure i probably wont find one for under 3K am i right?

There is always the EE. And you won't find a Tavor in tan.
Up until last week I actually had 2 Tavors and 2 RFB's but I'm down to one of each now. If I had to pick one, ( maybe it's my time spent in service) I would take the Tavor. I do think the RFB is a good little hunting rifle but it's heavy as hell compared to a good .308 tikka or sako. The two things I don't like about the Tavor is the trigger and the fact that it's not very ambi friendly.
