Tavor and what else?

Its a ###y gun and for smaller built people it is very easy to hold and shoot. It requires very little upper body strength to maintain on target and most women seem to like to take thier sweet time and hesitate before pulling the trigger. Haha

So that's why you like it so much ;)

Well beings I see the Tavor as a SHTF/defense rifle, I would recommend an Elcan Specter DR 1-4x. Its a good all arounder.

I thought it was a modern sporting firearm. Who are you defending against out on the farm? Are we being invaded? "DOWN ON THE GROUND WE'RE HER FOR YOUR WHEAT!" ;) LOL.
I think it's much better suited to coyotes and varmints here in Canada.

So since y'all are very helpful I thought I'd ask your opinion on what scope/optic I should get. I will mainly be using my tavor for coyotes and gophers and any other varmints.

Thanks

As for optic I think for what you are asking it to do I would go with the Sightron 1-7x24. True 1x and gives you 7x for reaching out a little further. Sightron has fantastic glass clarity and turret tracking and they are under $1000.
Call Jerry at Mystic Precision for a quote and to place your order. When I ordered my SIII 6-24 I had it on the rifle less that a week from the date of payment.

Wow my case has been great! I have an exps3 on there with magnifier and a m600p on the side and I can still fit it in there. Once in a while it takes a bit of wiggling but it just fits lol.

Now thats just RUDE!
Haha

No, its allright for varmints and such, I dont really use mine much for that although I may this winter. I guess i shoud have said I view the Tavor as a "Go to rifle" haha.

For my uses, namely plinking and target shooting with dabbling in a bit of 3 gun and varminting i like the elcan for its clarity and easy 1-4x as well as its over all compact nature. That being said, I was not saying it would be ideal for the nature of varminting, in fact i would probably lean away from it if varminting is priority.

Yea it will be primarily used for varminting, as I own a ranch with a decent amount of land.

Thanks for the suggestion but I have decided on a vortex PST 1-4x24 with the moa reticle. I believe it will suite my needs very well.

Your choice but for only a couple hundred more you can have more magnification and better glass.
You're looking at $600+tax for the Vortex and $875+tax for the Sightron. Both have lifetime warranty.

Be sure to post some pics once you decide and tell us how it works out for you.

So have you personally compared the two side by side? How much better is the glass? The add magnification is a bonus. But I have never owned either brands and from what I've seen the vortex is better than any of the scopes I currently own.

Also can the illumination be used without the self brightening system, or in other words can I manually change the brightness of the reticle?

Thanks

Sorry for the dumb response earlier, I was in a heck of a mood. I put the specter Dr on mine and love it. I know its above your price point but if by any chance you don't like yours, I have nothing but good comments to say about mine. Good luck and enjoy this fine rifle.

Dumb? Hell I thought it was quite entertaining, woulda took me awhile to write something like that.

I'd buy her if she came with a Tavor (probably cheaper that way in the long run).

Women seem to be like beer these days, you're only really renting them but it's free to try a different beer, you have to pay to get rid of the old woman before you can try a different one.

I own rifles with Leupold, Vortex, Sightron, Trijicon, and Nightforce scopes and also a Specter DR on one of my AR's. So yes, I have compared them side by side.
The Vortex Razor series are very good but for the money I'd rather have a Nightforce. The PST series are similar to a mid range Leupold which is good and they have a great warranty but the Sightron SIII or S-Tac series are a better scope in my opinion. I would easily say without hesitation they are the best scopes for the money right now. There are better scopes obviously but you need to spend almost double to get one.
Too bad you live so far away or I'd take you to the range and let you look through a few different ones so you could judge for yourself. It's hard to get a good feel for a scope looking through it inside a building under fluorescent lights.
if you have a $1000 budget you won't be disappointed with a Sightron.

I'm not sure about the illumination question. My Sightron is a 6-24×50 on my 308 without illumination. As for optical clarity and brightness it's very close to my Nightforce 5.5-22×56 and it might actually be better than my Trijicon 5-20×50.
