My Tavor's bolt carrier guide rod (the long drinking straw like metal tube attached to the buffer) seems beat up. I got my Tavor used and it looked almost mint except for the guide rod and it seems to be getting worse. It has pitting (correct word?) around the business end and a spot near the middle ~1/4"x1/4". There are also about ten little gouges near the middle as well. The pitting looks like someone scribbled on it with an engraving tool and my only guess about the gouges is they could have been done by cartidge bases when rounds didn't feed properly.

Is this normal? Can it affect function? I am worried the gouges and rough edges may wear down the internals or something. I tried taking pictures but they didn't work too well. I can try again if it helps. Is anyone selling parts like this? The only Tavor parts I see for sale right now are replacement bolts.

I've seen other people with this problem a while back.

Never had any problem with mine, and for a while there I was taking it out and reseating it once a week as part of the dissassembly process.

On your barrel there is the gas block (ًright Pratorian?) and there is a hole in there that guides your charging handle back into the bolt. I'd be checking that guide for any source of friction.
