Tavor bolt wear

Hey guys, I've put about 1000/1500 rounds through my tavor and I'm starting to notice excessive wear on one of the bolt lugs (specifically the lug that slides down the op rod while the bgc cycles back)

I've owned this rifle for about a year and It's performed flawlessly, and I've cleaned it after each range visit using frog lube for the most part. the finish has worn off the bolt on the usual wear points, but one this particular lug the metal is noticeably wearing down to the point where I can feel a burr on it. So what do you guys think? abnormal wear?

Sorry guys... It's my first time posting here. the links have been edited. and yes ShawnC6 I've used Gen 3 Pmags along with USGI and LAR15 mags however the bolt stop looks fine

you sure the bolt is not riding the bolt stop just slightly? TVPP made a few videos on that. When I first bought my tavor, I shaved all my polymer mags after seeing those videos, I noticed that when the mag was empty the bolt open was riding on the bolt.

I'll have to grab it out of the safe and test it the same way TVPP has... but to my knowledge the gen 3 pmags don't cause this issue as the rear profile has been squared

While I'm not 100% familiar with how the Tavor's action works, it looks to me like the bolt rotates and the lug hits and slides on the op rod while being cycled, which then acts as a stop as the bolt carrier group moves back and ejects the spent casing. It seems like the steel the op rod is made of is way harder than the bolt (no visible wear on the op rod itself) I'll look into the pmag issue some more... but honestly I've used LAR15 mags for most of those 1500 rounds fired

aprox 5000 rounds, I do have a spare bolt kit from brownells, but unless my bolt fails im not replacing it.

Looking at your pics I wouldn't worry about it...

Thanks for the pics guys!!

From the looks of it I now have a well broken in bolt... It was a bit concerning seeing that much wear compared to some of my old milsurps (which cost a fraction of what the tavor goes for) but as long as it continues to function I'm happy.

Ummmm - you guys should check out #####h Armory ....

I just picked up a couple of Tavors (Wanstalls - thank you Matt !) and I went on the hunt for some stuff over the last few days.

'Accidentally found myself on #####h Armory's site - WOW!

Type 'Tavor' into their search engine and presto - lots of neat stuff. If ya don't see what you want, send them an email (that's what I did on Friday) and they get back to you within a few hours - at least that's how it worked for me.

Holy ....

#####h seems to have access to everything on the IWI US site - maybe that's where you're gonna find your replacement bolts - give it a try ...

Well I finally got a chance to bring my tavor out to the range today and lo and behold... failure to eject (stovepipe) it was easy enough to clear and performed flawlessly afterwards, but now I'm stuck with a melted ejection port frame from the hot brass being wedged against it. Does anyone know where I can find a replacement part? I've seen some pictures online of some high round count tavors where the frame is all gnarly and beat up (or half of it even broken off) and I'm wondering why they chose this of all parts to be made out of plastic?
