I've got a ready supply of once fired .223 brass, so I really don't care to reload a 3rd time, but I'm wondering if everyone's brass is coming out of their Tavor looking like a Cheap Dollar Store Banana? Mine is throwing a neat pile directly off to one side, but 50% of the brass looks like it was put thru a snowblower. I'm just curious if there's something wrong, or if this is normal?
 
Every piece of brass coming out of mine has a fairly small dent in one side but is otherwise perfect. I use brand new remington brass, and I am neck sizing only - so far no reliability issues whatsoever...

I would say yours is getting a bit of rough treatment.

edit... after reading the other comments I remember that I often get a small ding on the neck too.

Interesting....I lubed the crap out of the bolt/extractor last time I cleaned it and it seemed to barely be burping them out the side of the gun.(pile is 1 foot away) Maybe too much lube is the issue here...but it sure makes clean up easier over an ar-15 that lobs them into the outfield.
 
Mine comes out with a nice little dent in the case and usually a little neck dent. Not too worried yet as the sizing die fixes the neck and the case dent isn't large. However the deflector on the outside is a little on the square side, it might be causing the ding.

Maybe an opportunity for an aftermarket part that is sloped more like and AR?

Thought I would bring this thread back to life for an update - it seems that the little damage my rifle was doing to the brass is becoming even less significant over time. I am shooting exactly the same ammo, but now the necks are not being dented at all, and the little ding on the side is almost too small to notice. Perhaps it has something to to with how I have been cleaning the rifle?
 
I havent lubed my bolt carrier since this and now it throws them nicely about 5-6 feet away, dent on the neck is less, but most still have the dent in the body....hopefully its a break in issue.
 
I've put through a large number of rounds since I bought it and have not had any issues with deformed/dinged cases. On my last Service Rifle clinic, brass was landing consistently 4-5 feet away.
 
G96 the crap out of the receiver and bolt. Let it soak in for a few days then do it again.

Seems to be kind on brass after that. Also no Tavor mark.

I have never had any signs of tavor mark either, and I have never smelt whatever it is people say they smell. I have also fired it lefty a few times while set up righty without any promlems. All apparently common problems I know nothing about...

This being said, I have never fired it indoors - but I have fired it from out the drivers side window of a truck (no hate please, it was in a pasture). I have also only fired handloads burning H335.

Normally I wear mil spec safety glasses but forgot them last weekend. I noticed a puff of gas seems to come up right by your face without them on, but never noticed anything odd smelling.

As for shooting it from a drivers side windowR:d:watch your windshield dude, or worse watch your defrost vents; or your dash will develop the infamous tavor rattle where empty brass in your heater box rattles around every time you turn a corner.
 
Well the windshield is already smashed to pieces - a byproduct of all the gravel I travel on for work... so I am not too worried about it. Its has actually eaten plenty of brass and has not been damaged from it - yet. I have had some close calls with the deforst though!

What worries me most is since the rifle is so short and the sight sits up so high - I am worried that one day I am going to sight in on a gopher and put a bullet right through my drivers side mirror. Try explaining that one to the body shop! I think I would rather just finish it off with a baseball bat first and tell them I backed through a garage door or something. I have already came very very close to doing this.

As for the gasses - I never wear glasses and still no smell. I have a very sensitive nose too. I suspect the H335 must be the reason.
