I was wondering all of you guys out there with Elcans on your tavor, at what did you zero your center dot on your elcan?
Did you do like the manual says 100 yard zero?

I find since the elcan on a tavor sits much higher than on an AR15 the BDC doesnt work that well for and I was wondering what you guys did to alleviate this problem.

I can't answer specifically about the elcan but Because of the huge hieght over barrel on the tavor, the 100 yard zero is almost best for all optics

Reason being guys doing the 50/36 yard or whatever zero (like you'd normally do on a ar15) they will be shooting way high at 100 and will still be high even out at 200. With a 100 yard zero, your POI will be within 2 inches of your POA from 50 out to 225 yards (with a 62 grain bullet)

For the type of rifle the tavor is I believe 100 yard is the way to go

I have 2 ballistic charts showing bullet drop comparing 50 and 100 zeros. I'll post it when I ind them. Then you can actually compare them to see which will match your reticle drop indicators the closest.

My hight from barrel to centre scope is 4.25" on my Tavor

Ballistically a 50 yard zero on my Tavor puts me 3.25" high at 100 yards, 6.51" high at 200 yards, 4.3" high at 300 yards and back to zero at 350 yards

While a 100 yard zero puts me zero at 100 then zero again at 200 yards with less then 1" high between 100 and 200 yards and overall gives a hit zone within 2" low or less then 1" high from zero from 40 yards out to 250 yards so a much better distance to zero at since basically anything out to 250 yards requires no compensation to realistically hit a 3" box balistically that is. My crappy eyes and bad shooting is all to blame for my misses.

Yah i think i might rezero it at 100, I currently have it like dilli at 50 and its bugging me hitting targets at 200.

thanks guys

I might try a 100Y zero as well next time im up at the range. I just took off my GHW rail as well so I need to re-zero regardless.

Im working 7 days a week for a while to help pay for these toys. So I dont see myself at the range any time soon...

I went to a 40 yard range with a chart and it showed a 55grn bullet would be .5 inches below the bulseye to zero for 100 yards. Will that work for my tavor with Elcan?

To be accurate using a chart you need to know your distance from center of barrel to center of scope or it will be off by quite a bit, Default hight was 1.5" on the chart I was using and it made no sense to me comparing my actual hits to the chart till I realized my mistake and redid the chart for a 4.25" hight then it worked far better. A inch difference really throws the chart off so you need to know your scope hight to be close. Center barrel to top of picatinny rail is like 2.5" so even a low mount scope will be more then 3"

I use nikon spot on http://spoton.nikonsportoptics.com/spoton/spoton.html#Index:20

To my knowledge the Elcan Spectre DR is to be zerod at 100m for 62gr 556 bullets for the BDC to be correct.

Interesting knowledge gents. I zeroed mine at 100 and after many beatings, it's still doing well. But I haven't shot at 200 yet.

here is a print screen of TAVOR, using 4" sight over bore and shooting M855

Compared to the M4 table, the tavor will shoot 1.3 to 1.5 MOA high using the ELCAN spectre at 300m and 400m.
