Tavor FAQ (updated 08 December, 2008)

do I get a deal for letting people know about that CanAm? (pretty please, even if it wasn't me who figured that out)

I know it's NON-restricted. but there are situations where a locking device can be mandatory, ex: when displaying it or storing it outside a safe... particularly when you have kids at home.

Yep, that's why I added the part about a "disabling device" to my post. If you're gonna display it I think a Visualock would look the best. You can always paint the bright red part black to blend in.

The Tavor is listed as a .223 Remmington on the buttstock, but the manual specifies 5.56x45. I understand many .223 Remmington rifles can handle the hotter 5.56x45, does the Tavor fall under this classification? Does it use the NATO or SAMMI spec'd chamber?

Thanks

THERE ARE A MILLION THREADS ON THIS - can it work....

they most likely listed it as the civilian cartridge because it would be easier to import as a civilian rifle with a civilian cartridge.

Check your email. The chambers are 5.56, that all IWI makes. They are just marked 223 for the civie market.

Still waiting! I keep checking to see if my credit cardhas been charged. That's a first, wanting to see a charge on the card.

Hope CanAmmo doesn't run outof these babies.

Don't worry, the nice folks at IWI would be happy to make more - no State Department export rules, no Liberal BS - just Capitalism, Israeli style. I guess it's 'cause the Israeli's can spot the difference between a terrorist and a shooting enthusiast. At least some governments aren't run by *sshats.

Tavor Pistol Grip?

It looks like there is a cap on the pistol grip of the Tavor. Has anybody figured out if and how the pistol grip cap comes off. Nothing about it in the on-line manual but it looks like it should detach?? There appears to be 2 little detents on either side of the grip but they don't seem to detach the cap either.

??

It was a bit of a chore but I managed to remove the cap. I just pushed both detents at the same time. Looks like a little storage space for a couple of batteries. Dont expect to get them if your in a hurry:)

Cheers

What kind of groups can I expect with this rifle?

With the amount of hype for this rifle I honestly expected a BILLION different review threads for the tavor. So far, i've only seen two and one of which was a reprint of an article in the CSSA magazine.
