Tavor...foregrip or nah?

Summers coming up and that's when I do the most shooting. Been playing around with the idea of putting a forward grip on my Tavor but I've never held one with a grip and I don't have anywhere I could try one.

So those of you with tavore, do you prefer the grip or au natural?

I know from previous expirence on ar15s and my xcr that I don't like foregrips at all but I like the long straight armed American stance with a magpul AFG I believe it's called. With that being said is one of those extended handgaurds something worth looking into to maybe mimic a more traditional longer grip?
 
Personally I don't like fore grips. I have an AUG which has an integral grip on the barrel and I never used it. Just doesn't feel natural. I held it just in front of the trigger guard. Just had to be mindful of the gas ports right there or unpleasant things happened.

For an AR probably. For a Tavor, I wouldn't.

The handguard is pretty wide, to the point the foregrip is far enough off the bore axis to actually made it a bit less controllable for me, where it teeter to each side.
At least for me anyway. YMMV
 
My Tavor has an Rpm long forend and I prefer it all slick. I have a surefire mounted to then 9 o'clock and use that as a hand stop against the web of my hand. Very comfortable for me.
 
The factory grip on the Tavor is really well designed, but we find we're about 50-50 in our courses whether someone's got a replacement handguard or not.

Here's one way to think about it:

Do you want a light? If so, you might want an alternate handguard. And if you've got an alternate handguard, you probably want some kind of grip on there.

Personally, no I don't. I'm not one to add tons of kit to a rifle unless it serves a specific purpose or improves the rifle in some way. Most of the stuff I've seen for tavors is just to satisfy the Lego block culture the AR15 developed over the past 10 years.
 
I put a vertical grip on mine, but have realized I actually prefer it with just the original handguard. One of these days I'm going to get around to removing the VFG again...
 
I've owned , I think, three TAR-21s in the past and have sold them all, mostly because the factory fore-end always felt..."off" to me. I know that it's designed to support the Israeli five-points of contact shooting style (or is it six?) but I just couldn't warm up to it. I have never liked foregrips but I received one unexpectedly earlier this year—a BCM Gunfighter Mod 3. I tried it on my newest Tavor and to my surprise really liked it—it's got a slight rearward rake that makes it feel very natural to me. I moved it to my CTAR when I had a chance to pick that up late last year and am really pleased with how much better the grip plus the RPM fore-end make the rifle feel. I don't hold it with my whole hand, mostly just with my three left-most fingers—have a look below.

I don't think I would care much for a foregrip, but instead I swapped the front end out with a RPM M-lok which seems to have improved the look AND feel of the rifle entirely. Once some accessories (junks) are hanging off the M-Lok, they act as natural handstops (e.g. light mount etc).

I may be the only person around here who really likes the Israeli 6 points of contact shooting style/grip. Because of that, I would never put a VFG on my Tavor.

VFGs on ARs for cqb training are great though.

Im with you, love using my forearm IDF style. Feels like an extension of your body.
 
No VFG, but i do prefer the RPM long handguard. It allows for the "traditional" 6 points IDF hold and a C-clamp style hold as well. Plus the extra length is handy shooting off things. Bonus points for looking cool and being Canadian made!
