Tavor gas blowback to the face?

Ok let's take this further. The people who got blow back from the Tavor, were they using Gen1 or later?

Mine was a Gen1

I never experienced this when I owned my Tavor, which was a newer generation model.

To enable using a single point sling I installed a FLEx Fulcrum cover on my Tavor.

When I removed the stock left ejection port cover I noticed that it would be relatively easy for gas blow back to escape the cover due to loose fitment and gaps the cover plate does not seal.

The FLEx cover fit much tighter, so it would eliminate/reduce any gas from escaping. Sealing the stock cover with tape, a thin homemade gasket, etc. would also seal off the opening as well.

If you have an optic on your tavor and don't use the iron sights, just put a 2" rail cover on the back of your rail. It fixed it for me

These comments really dampen my want to aquire this firearm. The burning eyes and gas inhalation isn"t worth it. I will try the tape route and see if that helps before i buy my own. The tavor i borrowed is pretty sweet but had to stop shooting it as gas was so annoying.

Blows my mind that for a $2700 rifle you need to modify it or put after market parts on it to stop it from blowing hot carbon gas into your eye.

How many of you have experienced this?

I have, shooting a friend of mines Tavor, unburned powder residue from Norinco ammo does fly back also. I believe it's because of the fact you can change the charging handle for right or left shooter, so you don't have a good seal on either side and thus you get gas and residue flying back at you. Doesnt bother me specially when I hear tiiiinng down range from my projectile hitting steel.

For the people saying they don't want to buy it because of this "problem." I'll let you in on something my DDMK18 has the same "problem", when I'm shooting outdoor range and good breeze comes in, I get gas and unburned residue flying towards my face. Nature of the rifle, take it with a grain of salt. My DDM4V2 with a 14.5" barrel M4 Profile did the same thing. My friend who owns the Tavor also owns a DDM4V5 with a 16" barrel, same "problem." The common denominator was ammo, all Norinco 5.56 from 1995 I believe was stamped on the box. With American Eagle or Remington or Winchester or Hornady, minimal to no blow back. I bet you if you bought a $600 Norc or $3K Tavor or $3500 KAC rifle, you'll get some kind of blowback minimal compared to the Tavor's interchangeable problem, but it will still exist.

It's really not that bad, people make a bigger issue out of it than it actually is.

After spending a good day on several different AR's last month, I had black smudge on my face for the gas. It happenss
Yes...some are just like that. My Beretta Storm does that with 147gn federal ammo, 124's and 115's are just fine. I think the bolt is starting to open before all the pressure has left the barrel with the slower heavier rounds. Just a guess though.
