tavor grip compartment; did anyone open it?

Best if you didn't unless you are very careful... the two tabs that lock the grip bottom on are more brittle than flexible. They need to be pressed in simultaneously and only far enough to clear the opening that they lock into... any further, and you risk cracking the plastic tabs off.

I store my registration cert in there. I very carefully took it out the first time, then filed the square edges off the locking tabs at about a 45 degree angle, and not quite halfway down, leaving a smaller square edge on the tabs. This way if i squeeze it with my thumb and forefinger, while pulling on the plug with my other hand, it is reasonably accessible. It does get easier to open after a few time, and I'm sure you could make something like the MIAD core inserts to fit whatever you wanted to store in there. I personally keep a boresnake and Troy sight tool in the space in the butt though, and I'm not sure what else I will put in the grip after the registry is done. If you need pics, I could take some crappy ones with my phone

I was pretty gentle with mine to pop it open. I keep my cert in there, and sometimes when I'm out in the bush I take the "final 3" miad core and stash that in there.

My actual miad on my fabarm, so its got a "final buck" tucked up in it.
