Looked at it at the gun show, didn't really think it was worth $3,000. Kind of heavy I thought and you could feel the 18'6" inch barrel. Not as handy as I thought. You guys should really look at the baby first before ordering blind.

18 foot 6 inch barrel, i imagine you really would feel that. Tevor must be one heck of a longgun. Kidding aside, I really enjoyed how the Tavor felt when i handled it, felt a lot more of an extension of my body than my CX4 or AR15 did.

OK sure Tavor, still the same gun. Do you know what the word means if you are so specific about it?

Tavor, or mount Tabor is an important historical fortress that dates back even way before the crusader period.
So yes, the name Tavor has a significance. Tavor is named rightfully so after the wars and triumphs of that biblical landscape, especially for the Israelis.

Tavor is a little hill when there are lots of vineyards and people go biking.:p

This, by far, is the most comprehensive reviews of the Tavor I have read. You sir, have swayed my opinion!

Couldn't disagree more. The weight is negligible, no heavier then a C7 and much easier to shoot. Double taps are very controllable and the rifle is very accurate in both off hand and bench shooting. Because of the better balance the rifle can be held on target in the offhand position for longer with less fatigue.

Only complaint is that you get a blast of gas from the action when firing but its nothing horrible. The price is a bit high but it does come with an optic so that's nice.

Honestly I was very impressed with this rifle, the best black gun available in Canada IMHO. I like it better then the PE90, XCR, SL8 and certainly better then an AR with longer barrel.

Looking at a gun show is nothing close to actually shooting a gun.

So on what basis did you form your opinions? I don't own one but there are lots on this site that do and they have a far better idea of what they are worth and what they are like. Contrast that with someone like you who picks one up a gun show briefly and comes to the blinding conclusion that they are not worth $ 3,000 after what, 5 minutes of fake aiming?

Maybe you don't like it because you cannot afford it. My impression of many of the people on this site is that they do a fair amount of research before the purchase a firearm. Future weapons thinks it is a great firearm. Many of the owners on this site who have intimate knowledge of them feel they are great, although, like any weapon, they have their quirks.

Your dissertation was not an impression. It was an opinion based on a very brief handling of the firearm and certainly coloured by whatever biases you harbour financially or otherwise.

Maybe you could elaborate on some of your points. "Kind of heavy and you could feel the 18'6" (should be 18.6" barrel) inch barrel". In relation to what? Its a bull pup and a well balanced one at that. Can you not feel the barrel of a regularly configured AR15 or Swiss Arms? I know I can.

And what does "not as handy as I thought" mean?. As stated it means nothing. And you "Looked at it at the gun show, didn't really think it was worth $3,000". On what fact set? Quality? Fit? Finish? You must back up what you say with something intelligent.

What you did was to throw out an off handed and ill considered opinion about something you know little about. You embarrassed yourself and pissed off a bunch of Tavor owners. Please think before you post and check your spelling and measurements.

I first heard of this rifle from an article in "Guns & Ammo" magazine years ago... I did not even have to hold the actual rifle to know the extent of its awsomeness, but I put it out of mind never expecting to see one in Canada. Once I saw an add for it in 'Access to Firearms' I just about crapped my pants. Unfortunately I discovered it too late and just missed out on the first shipment, but I should have mine next month. The Tavor is what brought me to CGN - I phoned Canada Ammo and he told me to watch CGN for info on it... ok, excitement contained

Serious question- I don't know much about Black Guns, but an unrestricted accurate semi auto is appealing.

What makes the Tavor worth the $3000? There are other black guns that are far less expensive. Most of my hunting rifles are in the $2000- $3000 range once set up the way I like them, but I can explain why they cost that much.

I dont' have the same knowledge of black rifles.
