Tavor, impressions

I love watching Future Weapons. It is cheesy and entertaining. However, I have to keep myself in check when I watch that show. I keep seeing all these new guns and have to refrain from going out and buying them IE the Tavor. :D

With a 75 grain Hornady A-Max it is as accurate as my SL8 out to as far as I can see with the EoTech. I shot to 700 yrds and once I found the spot I could hold it for 3-5 rounds within 2MOA. Long range is tough with the 223 but with a scope and good conditions that 1:7 twist can spin them right in there. Now if I was a better shooter I should, with the SL8, be able to beat the score of a Tavor as the barrel is better, I think. How about someone with a scope on a Tavor chiming in?

I would guess that the Tavor is a more accurate platform then the G36 for two reasons.

1. The Tavor still has an aluminium receiver so there will be less barrel deviation due to flex.

2. The optic mount probably helps stabilize the barrel around the gas port greatly reducing whip and thus reducing the need for a heavier barrel.

With semis after MOA you are generally splitting hairs and further tightening groups generally takes a lot of tuning. Look at the highly accurate ARs they are the result of serious tuning and years of R&D.

Another bit of info I think is relevant to this thread. The tavor I have her has well over 25k rounds through it with no parts failures and no function issues, in fact it looks pretty much new and still retains 2moa accuracy with a dot optic and cheap ammo.

I have seen PE90s with far far less miles and less abuse that have had failures, so you really cannot slag the price on the tavor. You really do get what you pay for.

I think you just hurt their feelings a wee bit.
I never got to hold a Tavor yet, but from what I've heard... Yea, I'm buying one next year :D

Wait for the Keltec RFB. So much better. And likely $1k cheaper. No joke.

Never saw that before, looks pretty sweet. i wonder if spent shells can get caught up in anywhere, and if you can clear them without removing the mag?

Just watched the videos on their site. Love that its .308 love that there is no chance of getting smacked in the face with flying casings no matter how i shoot it. Deff keep an eye out for this one.

So much better in what sense?

At least with the Tavor you are buying a fielded rifle...who knows what you are buying with the Keltec? It may be better but 1) it's not in Canada yet and 2) it's hardly anywhere else yet either...and 3) their MSRP is high enough that I don't think you're going to save a huge pile of money...

One thing I have not noticed among serious rifle users, though...a massive love of Keltec guns. If it turns out to be a great gun then awesome and I won't pretend it sucks if it performs...hell I have Norinco guns, I am interested in nothing other than the performance of the gun. But I don't have a lot of faith in Keltec to generate a kickass rifle...I would not hold up purchase of a Tavor, which is a proven design, for a Keltec.

I do hope people buy the Keltec, though...I like flying "E" or "F" models myself.

Construction of our new 12,500 sq-ft building is currently underway and scheduled to be completed early 4th quarter. This new facility will be used as a warehouse to free up space in the main factory for new CNC machines specifically for RFB production." "MSRP: 1880.00"

Better?

1. Forward Eject
2. FAL Mags
3. No Mag Tilting
4. Ambidextrous
5. 1.6mm of steel at breach, I like that
6. 30 cal.
7. less prone to stove piping as brass is pushed forward
8. extremely compact battle rifle
9. NON-restricted

Look at the dealer price at $1189.00

Wow, your video of a 13 year old who clearly seems very informed and refers to magazines as "clips" has completely changed my mine. The Keltec is awesome!

So by your own post, Keltec doesn't even have the machines in place to build the RFB. Now we have to wait for them to get the machines on site. That doesn't happen over night. We will not see RFB's for at least a couple years.

Do your own research on Keltec and ignore the baseless Youtube hype videos.

You missed the point of the video posting! It's not about the 13 year old commentator. It's about the PRICE TAG at the end: $1189.00. That is dealer cost and the price was shown at a DEALER ONLY event. It will likely sell in Canada for under 2k. The Keltec isn't perfect, it's just a better value, in my mind. I'll leave it at that.
