So this is me doing my Customer Service,

A guy bought my Tavor a little while ago, he is now not to happy with the gas going into his eyes. He is not a ####, but I could tell from the look in his eyes he was not impressed with it.

I recommended he clean well, but to reduce oil to only the necessities and to wear eyewear like M Frames that wrap around,

but other then that what have people done to combat this issue? any mods, tips or tricks to reduce the tavor bringing a tear to ones eyes?

Thanks

I am having this same issue, makes it less fun to shoot. I was having to clean my safety glasses ever 40 rounds or so. Most of it was getting on the glasses but it was still bothering my eyes.

there should be a seam just behind the rear sight ... gases tend to bleed through there

had many a squirt of ammonia straight to the eye before I was shown the trick

Also it goes away. I don't notice after a couple shots these days. On a side note I've had the same thing happen to me with a buddies varmint style AR15. The first few shots.. Not sure if it's the ammonia from bore cleaners.

Hey skrypnyk
Is this the same Tavor you had problems with?

Is this the crack you guys are talking about? And just to get this straight, I put hockey tape over it, or I put Locktite into the seams?

Yep it definately goes away, mine doesn't do it at all and only did it when new. Likely blowing out factory grease or something.

No fun, I enjoyed having the 'Tavor Mark' under my shooting glasses :)

Hockey tape!? That sounds even worse than Locktite. Just saying......:p

I suppose the subtle difference is that the gun will function without the tape, I have my doubts about the 'locktite' example you refer to ... just sayin'.

I had thought the escaping gases were from burning powder that somehow were escaping through the crack. It didn't make the gun unshootable, although it could be unpleasant. I suppose soldiers are expected to endure all nature of small unpleasantness and view it as a form of character building.

In any event, the fix is very easy, and quite worthwhile ... despite the occasional snide comment.

Locktite is a bad idea.
Tell your friend to run the rifle totally dry.
If the problem goes away , it was the lubricant he used.If not I have some other theories.
If you did not have the same issue when you oned the rifle, tell your friend what lubricant you used.
If you/your friend want to solve former/other problems let me know.

Notice you don't take cheap shots at the Tavor and hockey tape at every opportunity like XCR and Loctite :)

Why is the Tavor the Canadian favorite black rifle. Cause all canucks already have hockey tape to make it work right ;)
An entire tube of loctite. Pretend it's an XCR...
^ I am kidding about this, btw.
