hey guys I had a question about the tavor I know that its non restricted and I went to a gun store recently and I was looking at the tavor and the guy that was helping me said hey do you have restricted on your gun license and I said yes why and then he went to say that the rcmp is planning to make the tavor restricted pretty soon and I was like why amd he said because its a bullpup so now im confused because I really wanted to buy it has anyone else heard this ?
 
I had a guy tell me to save my $$ and buy another AR instead as the Tavor was going to be prohib'd.......

I always get a kick out of the poo I hear at gun stores, gun shows and at the range.

I had a guy tell me the other day that he is getting 3600fps out of his "improved" 416 rigby..... I dint believe him either......
 
A Government Order in Council could prohibit the Tavor.
The RCMP can't classify it as restricted.
 
The definition of a restricted, firearm is as follows:
Definition of a restricted firearm

According to the Criminal Code, a restricted firearm is:

  • a handgun that is not a prohibited firearm,
  • a firearm that
    • is not a prohibited firearm,
    • has a barrel less than 470 mm in length, and
    • is capable of discharging centre-fire ammunition in a semi-automatic manner,
  • a firearm that is designed or adapted to be fired when reduced to a length of less than 660 mm by folding, telescoping or otherwise, or
  • a firearm of any other kind that is prescribed to be a restricted firearm

Since it meets none of the physical characteristics of a restricted (a,b or c) the only other way it would become restricted would be if it were named via Order in Council as a restricted (d). The RCMP luckily do not have this power, only the government does. In other words, the guy at that store is full of sh*t, and an idiot.
