What sort of mag came with your Tavor when you purchased it?


I recently acquired a Tavor from a CGN sponsor dealer. The mag that is came with is a 5/30 gloss black metal one, no rivet so an internal blocking mechanism. I do not believe it is an IWI one that came standard issue with the Tavor. I say this for several reasons: the sticker on the mag that read "AR-15"; no IWI markings; I thought IWI used polymer mags (am I wrong?); the mag does not fit in or out of the mag well nicely at all, very stiff in and out; it does not feed well (if at all), it mashes the cartridges damaging them beyond usable, rendering them useless and to the point to where I was concerned about damage to my new toy, as it was very difficult to un-jam these issues. Yes I have other different mags that fit and feed and allow the rifle to cycle flawlessly.


Thought I should check here first before I blast this dealer like I want to right now.

Only IWI US uses polymer mags from CAA marked IWI.

All canadians have ever gotten is gloss black metal 5.56 elander mags, typically rivited on the back.

Should also note that IWI US has stopped using the CAA mags because CAA is not a steady source. All US Tavors now ship with Gen 3 Pmags.

I've still got my powder coated mags stamped with IWI on the side. The follower in them was a little disappointing though.

Point still stands though on the polymer mags and currents being elanders... haha

Ya the mag that came with my Tavor was a metal POS. Can't even put any bullets into it because they feed in crooked and super hard it left brass markings on the inside from the bullet thats how sharp and hard it was to even try. I already had a few polymer beowulf magazines which I was planning on using anyways so not a biggie. But ya it was total garbage

I threw that P.O.S in the garbage.... All I run is ATRS pistol mags in my Tavor...

Okay, so I'm not the only one, not the fault of the dealer... thanks guys. Kind of disappointing, you spend a decent amount of money on a rifle, one would assume a decent functioning mag would come with it. I wouldn't run this mag in any of my guns, like you guys said it is a POS and essentially useless. Glad I had a decent stack of other mags or it would have been a disappointing first shoot with it.
