OP any update on your tavor situation?
An update since my last post on this thread at 10 o clock last night?!
I had a dream. It was about running a short-barrel Tavor on full auto in the desert.
It was good.
Really though, where we're at:
Gun did fine on Sunday, but that was only 40-50 rounds.
Possible sources of trouble, could be working together:
1. Brass flecks in the bolt
2. Pmags lifting the bolt-hold-open and rubbing in bad ways
3. improper gas block installation
A note on this last one: Praetorian said this can only be done by level III armorers with special tools.
I have to disagree, I was able to do mine with a copy of the armorers manual on my iPad, a .223 snap cap, and a set of Alan keys. Thats all I needed to disassemble the rifle, take the barrel out, change the sight rail over, and replace the gas block. The Tavor is fairly serviceable if you're willing to put in a little time.
That being said: If I screwed it up installing can-ams parts, I really wish they would have told me that it was something I had to be aware of. My setup came with no instructions and no hardware when I ordered it. The hardware had to be mailed separately in a little envelope when I asked for it.
The only other update worth mentioning is that I'm going to get my factory front site removed and a new flash hider installed tonight. You'll notice in the videos that the full rail has a cantilever thing and a little silver dot. I'm sick of that and intend to fix it.
