Tavor newbie

Figure I would add a question to this thread rather than start another one.

gen3 pmags have no issue in a tavor correct? (any age tavor?) those are all I have really.

All fde tavors are the newer models correct? I keep seeing gen1 gen 1.5 gen2 listed on tavors in the EE and im wondering whats the biggest differences between them? all fde tavors in Canada are gen2?

Perfect. Was worried was gonna have to wait for these. Gonna get couple pcv Beowulf's even if aren't best quality 14 rounds plus they should tide me over until the atrs come out. Are there better quality Beowulf out there? I'm just curious as the round count really tickles my fancy.

The original Alexander Arms .50 Beowulf mags are good quality and function well. They came in 3 layouts from Alexander Arms: 10 round polymer mags Manufactured by CAA of Israel, and 7 and 10 round metal mags.

The A.A. mags are hard to come by on the E.E., but thats the only place to get them anymore. They were originally brought in by Armtac, but Armtac got scared they were going to loose a shipment to the RCMP next time they brought them in. Last time I talked to Chris at Armtac he had submitted some mags to the RCMP for a decision.

A 5.5 pinned mag should hold about 15 rounds.

Gen 3 PMAGs are fine, the older ones were trouble because the cut out in the back wasnt square and would often partially engage the bolt hold open device resualting in unnecessary wear that resulted in TV-PressPass' bolt hold open device needing to be replaced. A simple fix for the old Pmags is to file that notch out square like USGI mags.

As for generations of Tavors, the basics are:
-Gen 1: no top rail, came with a Mepro M21 optic from Factory instead.
-Gen 1.5: had a short rail in place of the M21
-Gen 2: flat top rail
-Gen 2.5: added the new "improved" factory Tavor trigger pack.

FDE Tavors are only Gen 2 and Gen 2.5.

finally got the rifle and ooooo my lanata was it worth it. now need to get that piece so dont get that "tavor eye"

Put 40 through it this afternoon and I kept getting like a small puff of gases to the eye. Was really uncomfortable. I hope that piece stops it as it really only complaint ATM.
 
Half a cent worth of electrical tape sure clears up that "tavor eye" nicely haha. Can't find that swivel so will have to do for now
