Tavor NR barrel chrome lined or nitrided?

i was in a discussion with a fellow tavor owner who claimed our non restricted barrels are not treated in any way much like the cz858 barrel. i always though they were chrome lined but cannot remember seeing any in the bore now i am thinking they are nitrided? anyone have the truth?

i would look down the barrel of mine but i am away from home for a while :p

I can understand where the guy got his logic. Here in Canada we are constantly shafted because of our barrel length law. No company wants to spend the money on a proper barrel in 18.5 for the small amount of sales up north. We get charged high prices because the rifle is nr yet we get an inferior product.

Except Tavors are not made in USA..
 
If it is hammer forged they would chrome line it. If the barrel is slightly out of spec, they just ad more chrome plating to it, to get it within spec.

It extends barrel life and makes cleaning easier. The drawback is that it may negatively effect accuracy to some degree. However, when you're talking about "battle" rifles, that really isn't a major concern. You aren't shooting groups that agg in the .2". Instead, you're shooting "minute of torso" and any rifle that can consistently post a group capable of downing an enemy at range, is acceptable. Of course, some are more accurate than others, such as the Swiss Arms and AR platforms.

Good triggers really help in this regard. But, honestly, I own all three and have never really had a problem with the Tavor. The barrel in mine has plenty of "inherent" accuracy - trans. I can hit what I aim at. As for its bullpup trigger...sure it's heavier than my Geissle sitting in my favourite AR, but it is crisp and not spongy at all. Which is a bonus.
 
I saw that there was a quick and easy trigger mod for the Tavor, but I feel like I should get proficient with the original trigger before spoiling myself with a lighter pull. Thanks for the info, I guess there is always a trade off.
