Hi guys,

I just bought a used Tavor 21 on CGN and am now looking at mounting an optic but I believe that the height of normal mounts are too low. What would everyone with a Tavor recommend as effective mounts for a Vortex Strike Eagle 1-8 ?

Cheers,
Jim

I tried Extra Tall ATRS rings. They worked okay. The cheekweld on the Tavor is terrible and it’s very difficult to mount a scope in a comfortable fashion. Also the Tavor was hard on optics. It wrecked the Viper PST I was using. Eventually I abandoned using a variable optic and settled on an ACOG.

How did it wreck the Viper?

ive personally never really had much trouble grabbing a sight picture with my Tavor but most of my optics used on that platform have been lower 1/3 co witness height. I mean I still need to get more aggressive on my cheek weld than on my AR's but its always been doable.

Rattled it until it wouldn’t hold zero

Surprises me... we have five or six scoped Tavors that have been regulars on the DSSBCA.com multigun circuit for a number of years. They're sporting anything from a Bushnell AR 1-4x to a Nightforce more powerful than a microscope... None of them have had to replace their glass despite several thousands of match rounds per year, let alone practice rounds. Wonder if your Viper was made on a Friday?

Well the first PST crapped out on my Su16. I swapped it onto the Tavor to double check it was the scope. Yup wouldn’t hold zero. I got a warranty replacement which promptly crapped out on the Tavor.

So yeah maybe just Vortex QC issues. I’d like to test more optics on the Tavor but I’m fed up with Vortex.
