Tavor or Acr ????

Tavor all the way. Trigger is a little rough but 400m out, and I can hit coyote size targets no problem using a 3.5 ACOG. Which is exactly what that little piece of heaven is good for. Hopefully they come up with some heavy barrel options though. Israelis got this thing right.

Thats a Surefire 215 Flash Hider. No brake, but if you ever hear ringing in my videos its the prongs on that thing going. Works like a hot damn when it comes to dissipating flash and gases.

Pretty much the same as an AAC style, but with the surefire name and suppressor adapter on it.

I've always been more of a fan of conventional style rifles, but I really like the Tavor. If you can get an ACR with factory non-res barrel, go for that, but otherwise go for the Tavor.

Thanks guys ! hmmm it is true as far as cost go, currently a tavor is more reasonable to then acr + NR barrel 0.o i think my primary concern for the tavor is that 223 has its limits as far as stopping power goes , and acr can swap out the caliber, bahhhhhh so hard to chooose only if someone in victoria had both (or either :D ) and let me take a couple shots i would totally know !!! :p

That point is more or less rendered moot when you are not limited to FMJ ammunition.

Ah, FFS - not this s**t again... Shot placement, shot placement, shot placement... As for swapping out the caliber - let us know when you're able to source the 6.8SPC or 7.62x39mm conversion kits for the ACR. Great in theory - not so great in practice (when the required components don't exist).

id assume if its good enough for GI Joe than its good enough for me.

My vote would be for the Tavor. If you own an AR, your not missing much with the ACR.

Just remember: that's with it and not to it. ;) What are you running for a brake on that and how do you like it? I agree with the comments that a NR factory ACR is a game-changer, and would really compete with (bury?) the XCR.

I totally agree with you on this and will actually push the argument further and say the the custom barrel option is still a good option for someone who really wants an NR ACR, because waiting for the factory NR ACR could take a while.

A quick cost breakdown:
Used ACR - $2,450
New (quality) barrel & Ceratoke finish - $1,100
Shipping - $50
You're in it for $3,600 or so. It's a good chunk of change no matter how you see it.

New Tavor - $2,900 + HST (13% in Ontario) = $3,275
(yes I know, could have put a price for a used one too, but again, for sake of argument)
Shipping - $50

You're in it for $3,325

A factory NR ACR @ $2,999 + HST 13% + Shipping will run you $3,325. With the custom NR route you at least get to choose the barrel profile, finish, twist rate.

For someone who's looking for an NR rifle, of standard / conventional design AND doesn't want to go with a PE90 or an SL8 build (cuz who keeps them totally stock), I think the custom NR ACR is an option not to be overlooked for a $300 difference Vs the Tavor.

An undeniable advantage for the ACR is the fact that you can put a really nice Geissele trigger in it if you want too. I can only imagine how quickly they would sell if one would be availble for Tavors!
Whether or not it's worth it for $3,600 is a whole other matter.

i seen two coyotes on my way home today. i knew they were close by where i live, just not this close. time to take my tavor coyote hunting.

the .223 round is good for varmint, deer depending where you live and the type and people. the stopping power is more then adequate. i dont know how much stopping power you actualy need. are you planning on taking your non restricted .308 ACR that dosnt exist yet in canada hunting bear or moose or something?

The latest version of the Tavor was selling for around $2700. This is with the full rail and without an optic.

That being said I actually prefer the look of the ones that had the factory pic rail and came with the M21 sight. But it was more expensive and you have less rail space.

I like the ACR with the regular handguard and folding stock. Both rifles look to be good. That being said the ACR I think could use a bit more time for both production/price and improvements such as the new magnessium lower.

Given a choice right now, Id go with the Tavor and keep my eye on the ACR. Unless of course a super deal comes along. That could change things a lot.

Are you talking about it with the idea of converting it to NR or keeping it as Restricted?

I don't mean to take the discussion too off course, but even a good deal (say $2,300?), wouldn't it still be pretty high on the price spectrum for a range queen, considering it's in it early stage and that other manufacturers offer better and more refined products ?

I’m personally not sure what that extra $500 or so gets you?
