Tavor or TAR-21

Here's my finished rig with the Atlas bipod I was waiting on. Maybe a 'farmer' will <cough> invite me out <hint, hint> gopher hunting this year. :D The previous owner siliconed the gas block, so "Tavor Eye" is but a distant memory. Now if we could only get a Geissele 3.5lb drop-in trigger... I was just screwing around with it this afternoon, and the bipod is rock solid. With the 5-round bench PMAG, one actually has a lot of flexibility with shooting positions.

WHOO FOOKING HOOO!!!! I finally fired a left handed Tavor!! And the best part is, this one is Mine! After much whining, anguish, gnashing of teeth, years of waiting, three different rifles and many beer (well, they were gonna happen anyways) the brass is finally flying away from my face.

Now to find a left handed brass catcher...

So, is it everything you thought it could be? Are you running a brake or just the standard flash hider?

I had an Atlas bipod on my Surgeon rifle (in an AICS AX stock) and they are absolutely fantastic bipod. A pain in the arse to get a hold of, but beside that, great product.

I see you went back to stock barrel w/ the KAC TT. How's the TT?

Yes they are. Nope, I bought another Tavor because I missed having a NR one. That and changing out the CTAR barrel is a major PITA (I can not overstate this enough!), and I'm not interested in the hassle of de/re-registering it...

What!!!

Another Tavor!!

The force is strong in that one ;)

I was wondering if you indeed gone through all the trouble of changing the registration back.

Re KAC TT - how do you like it so far? Seems like a well thought out product.

Ya, those are a great bipod. Not uber-fast to deploy like a Harris, but once locked in place they're fantastic for my uses. A little spendy and kinda rare, but well worth it in my opinion.

We might not find a gopher out here, but I do have lots of AR-500 to shoot at now. We'll definitely have to do some of that this summer.

Atlas bipod looks like a beauty Blaxsun!

Has anyone found a suitable brass catcher? Left or right handed?

Deep snow in Alberta, but I think I need to go shooting this weekend anyways.

The Caldwell brass catcher works perfectly (depending on where your optics mount) for right handed use. I'm hoping it'll work as well upside down for lefty use, otherwise I might need to learn how to sew.

It was actually kinda anticlimactic. There were no butterflies and rainbows, but then neither was there minor pain or bleeding. :D

Just the standard flash hider. I'm keeping this 100% stock, right down to the seatbelt. At least for now. Maybe. I do like ERT slings. :)

Oh my god, this thread is really making me want a tavor in the worst way.

It's a terrible (in a good way) addiction. With some minor financial side effects.

I'm really tossed up on the Tavor and the ACR if it ever comes in non restricted flavour. But damn you guys are making it hard not to save up for a tavor, it would be nice to have a black rifle you can shoot anywhere without being persecuted by the law.

The ACR is a nice rifle, to be sure. When it's eventually available with factory NR barrels, that'll be a tough call. But as it is now, you're looking at all of $4k to make the ACR non-restricted.

It was going to be another AR15, and by the time I crunched the numbers I was over $3,500. So I figured for that price, I might as well spend $500 more and get a NR ACR. Then I thought for a bit more than half the price I could just have another Tavor.

Haven't tried it yet. But everyone says they're awesome. :D

This one was pretty reasonable. $225 plus shipping, NIB. It's the non-quick release, but I don't really have another rifle to mount it on anyway. I figured if I was going to have just one bipod, I might as well make it a great one.

I've encountered enough hares in my neighbuorhood in the past week that it's almost rabageddon. I should let my Sibe start free-ranging...

They say the third time's the charm (this is my third, although I did keep the first one as well). ;) Seatbelt - that's a good one. Has to be better than a 'toilet seat', though... ;) The ERT slings are nice. Fairly reasonable, and they do ship directly to Canada. The Tavor one has a 'stretchy' portion which is nice.

Farmer Harv i was wondering if you could share with us the results of your range test . has anyone done anything to lighten the trigger pull other than removing the spring .

I've sprayed the trigger assembly down a few times with G96. Some dry firing and it smooths out. When shooting these, breath, squeeze and it will feel lighter than the target breath out hold and squeeze technique.

By results do you mean which ammo did what? Sadly my Post It Note system of tracking groups was scrambled by a combination of wind and klutziness, so all I have are a bunch of groups and no idea which ammo created them. Only thing I know for sure is that the 75gr Steel Match were no better or worse than the Win 45gr JHP, as I fired them back to back and didn't see any real difference between them (not what I expected at all).

Yes, yes it does.....

I fired up the snow blower at 9am.

I turned it off and put it away at 2:30...... The worst part, it's still snowing! It's coming down slower and the wind is almost nothing (compared to yesterday).....

There was 14" of snow on my 1/2 ton this morning.......
