has anyone had any success with an aftermarket Barrel shroud / fake can to cover up the spindly barrel on the TAVOR?

I talked to MFI about 5 months ago, and they gave me this massive write-up about how they won't ship up to Canada... it was a canned response... but I didn't think they were allowed?
 
Correct. MFI cannot ship to Canada. They aren't allowed.

These show up on the EE every now and then. Lots at my range ;)
There are also the fake Spike cans available too ...

How much available barrel is there on the TAVOR?
thia may also work on Vz858 is you were willing to loose the front sight (replace with a rail)
 
Don't think so man. They're the same thread as an AR, so if you can find something that goes back over an AR barrel it should be the same thing for a Tavor.

But for me I just don't see the point. I don't mind my long barrel by and large.

If you really want the Tavor to look like a CTAR: find yourself a 14" barrel like I did! :D
 
As the are not to be used as a suppressor so only need to withstand heat, the Airsoft ones work fine. They can easily be had in lengths from 120mm to 240mm and come threaded appropriately on one end. Simply ream the other end out enough to fit over the barrel, remove the foam material from inside and replace with fiberglass insulation if you want and a dab of loctite, thread it on and viola......you're done for the cost of about $20. I've made a few of these for my rifles and a couple for friends.
