Tavor Problem: Mags won't drop free

So I just picked up a Tavor and I am experiencing a problem I haven't seen before online. When I hit the mag release the magazine pops down a little then gets stuck and requires some force to be removed, enough that no jolt of the rifle will shake it loose. I have tried P-Mags, Press Check Ventures, standard metal AR, as well as ATRS mags, and all require the same attention to be removed.

Where would be the best place to start in resolving this issue?

Any help greatly appreciated.

My honest suggestion would be to just yank them out during a reload. I know some people use their firing hand to "bump" the mag release but I really think the tavor was designed to have the mags grabbed and yanked out during a reload.

Saying that, it looks like you have some wear inside your magwell that could be causing friction against the mags. Maybe try to file away the wear and see if that helps

I figured I may need to go that route, it does seem like a particular side is binding more than the other. I don't mind having to yank them, but I sure do like the idea of the firing hand bump, seems very quick.

I agree with the speed thing for sure, saying that the advantage to ruling the magazine is that it will always work. More consistent for sure.

I just shot a clients tar 21 t0day at the range
Atrs pist0l mags we well and 0kay mil spec mag w0rked 100% only press check and gen 1 p mag were an issues.

Gen2 Pmags tend to hang as you describe. Gen3's fall right out (unless the magwell gets gunked up) as do metal ones and Tapco mags. Your magwell looks beat to hell. Maybe some light polishing with fine sandpaper will help. File flat any rivets on the mags too. Pulling the mag makes changing them that much more consistent. 1 handed bump drops are for competition, not combat.

Solved it with a micro file, a whole bunch of sandpaper and a little time :) The Press Check mag is a nice fit still, but all the rest free fall. Best of both worlds. Appreciate the push to clean up the magwell :)

My Tavor and i have the same problems.... very picky on the mag drop free. The Pmags i have tried do not work. The USGI spec metal mags worked. My problems seem to be the back "spline" thickness and or seam/imperfection on this back "spline" on the others. A great example is to take a USGI spec metal mag and compare the thickness of the "spline" to the Press Check Ventures is thicker.....at least mine where.
D&H Industries Mags I bought from Saskatoon gun works work great and drop free with force.
This seemed to work for me......
