So I was out and about in the bush the other day with the tavor, trying to get a coyote or 2. I tried calling a bit but no luck so I packed up and headed back to the truck. As soon as I get there I see a nice coyote bounding along a clearing about 50 yards away.

So I load a mag in, rack the action and draw a bead on the sucker. He stops for a second and I press the trigger.*Squish* No boom, just squish.I verify the safety is off, tap, rack AND Squish. I run through my malfunction drills as quickly and quietly as I can, get a sight picture again, and Squish. No boom, yote trots off to haunt my dreams.

I am, of course livid, because my gun had failed me yet again, and I only had maybe 200 rounds through it since it got back from North Sylva. I take the tavor home and let it sit in the safe overnight to think about what it had done before I inspect it thoroughly.

The next day after I removed the bolt and started inspecting it, I notice out of the corner of my eye, an extra hole in my gun. At first I thought my mesa tactical quick release sling adapter had fallen out.But it was the wrong hole. It was the hole just forward of the sling hole. The pin had rattled loose and fell out into my gun case! I slide the sucker back in. Secured it properly with the little pin and function tested the rifle. Worked like normal. Took it out and tested it and she fired just like she should.

Moral of the story is, Give your guns a quick once over inspection if they have been rattling around your truck for a while and check for this pin if you ever happen across this silly issue!

old pic, but its the pin just left of the sling hole. Make sure that sucker has its locking pin securely in place. I sure am glad I caught the issue though.

That's a weird one. are you sure it was seated properly when you got it back from north Sylva?

Those trigger pack pins aren't supposed to come out! They're supposed to stay in the gun just like your but stock pin

Loctite has become this horrible joke because of the XCR.

It is not a bad idea to loctite parts that may come loose. This sounds like on of those things. Really it's a quick, cheap, reliable fix. I have had the front sight fastener on a SAN come loose, and a little blue loctite worked wonders.

yeah, I was going to say those pins on the Tavor are captive pins, they are not supposed to come out that easily without breaking something.

The retaining pins that hold these 2 pins in place were not secured properly. I noticed the other one was not seated in its grove when I put the one that fell out back. The gun was in for repairs recently and they may have not properly set the pins in place. I could force them to fall out once they were set properly. And they are a pain to remove on purpose.

The tavor has been my truck gun for the past month or so and I drive on a lot of crappy roads, So maybe it rattled loose on its own.

I'm gonna file this one under "Learning Experience" and move on. Though I'd have liked to have taken that yote, I know there will be more.

Where's all the tavor boys now to make their loctite jokes??? Too bad with all the plastic in tavors loctite may not work. Scotch tape may be your best option lmao
