Quick question for Tavor gurus out there. Its been a few years since Ive owned a Tav. Just purchased a nice on of the EE with a Timney for a fair price today. I have always run LAR mags in all my black rifles but recently have found myself using and enjoying my PMags more. The 5 vs 10 doesn't bother me as I like to practice mag drills and like having a full length non coupled magazine.

I remember back when I had my other Tavors there was a noted issue with PMags and running them in the Tavor. The only thing I seem to recall is having to square out the back of mag like a USGI for the bolt but cant remember if there is certain generation of PMags to stay away from. Any words of wisdom on this subject would be appreciated.

Cheers

All pmags should be fine as long as it's squared off at the back of the mag. The Gen1 and 2 pmags cause wear on your bolt catch as the push it up a fraction of an inch even with ammo in the mag. Watch TVPressPass' youtube vid how to file them down to fit properly without interfering with your bolt catch. Gen 3 pmags don't have to be modified however.
Hope this helps.

I know exactly how to file the squared out notch just wasn't sure if there was new issues with newer gen mags besides that. When I had my Tavors the Gen3's were just hitting the market so never got to run them prior to selling my rifles. Back in the Tavor game now so just making sure. Thanks for the reply

No worries. I also notice the kel tec coupled PLR 16 mags needed the same filing, other than that they all worked fine after modification, in my experience. Gen 3 no filing required.
