Tavor TAR-21 for IPSC 3 gun

Never regretted buying my Tavor, not ONE SECOND! Now, with LAR15 pistol mags & 10 rounds, I would expect the Tavor would do quite well as a IPSC gun. It's short & compact, it's battle field tested in it's military 'edition'... If I was using mine for IPSC I would put a EOTech or something simular on it. I hunt with mine, so I mounted a Bushnell Elite 6500 1.25-8x32 using a ARMS QD 35 base & 35M rings.

Cheers

Fast swaps with the TAR take some getting used to. The mag being placed in the stock needs some counter force so that you know it is slapped in there. You get more leverage with an AR unless you are squeezing the stock on the TAR right. Otherwise, it's a good shooter.

I have shot some 3 guns matches with Tavor. It works and turns fast. I run both a red dot and a scope (in case I have to shoot 100 m and beyond).

no reason why it wouldn't work,is it the best possible platform? dunno, you don't see it very often in 3gun but thats probably becuase AR's are cheaper than a tavor

Probably also because it's damn near impossible to get a nice target trigger out of a bullpup and the ARs have so many accessories / parts and options available.

Haven't handled one too much, but initial thoughts:

Mag changes would be a little slower than with an AR.
Shooting from a prone position may be a little more awkward as the mag resting on the ground is so far back vs the AR.
the added length of an AR lets you have more options to set up and shoot from different positions from barricades/tables/trees etc.
I may be wrong on the last one but being shorter, it feels like you are too close to the support structure to get the best position.

And as mentioned the trigger may not be as nice.

Just my thoughts.

Merry Christmas!

Shooting around, possibly.
Shooting from, maybe not.

My current shooting style from a structure is to extend and lock my support side arm, and push the palm of my hand against whatever it is I'm using for support and grip my extended handguard with my thumb/index finger.
This gives me all kinds of stability for long shots or shooting small objects like clays or something.
If kneeling, I do the same but my support side knee is on the ground and the other is up so I can rest my shooting side elbow on.
multiple points of contact with the ground, barricade etc, its like I'm shooting from a bench rest.

Without having tried it with a tavor, I don't know how much the short length would hinder my ability to be stable in all the different shooting positions I have come across in competition.

I'm sure you can be competitive with the tavor, at the end of the day it comes down to the shooters abilities.

Just right now, if I was to run the same course of fire with an AR and a Tavor, I'd be faster with the AR.

Go to any major three gun... You'll be able to count the number of non-AR's on one hand not using your thumb, pinkey ot ring finger.

Is that an inside joke with the OP?

If not, can you explain because whatever you are trying to say is not making sense to me.

I use my tavor for 3gun. Works fine. Very point and shoot friendly. Prone changes arent bad netheir are the mag changes from any other position. Good accuracy. I approve.
