Hey guys, I new to the forum, and shooting. I picked up a TAR21, and am looking for recommendations on a scope for it. Trying to figure out if it's worth going with a cheaper scope to start with, or just jump right into the ACOG or Leupold HAMR? Any thoughts?

I use my Tavor for hunting, so I went with a Bushnell Elite 6500 1.25-8x32 mounted with the ARMS QD base and ARMS 35M rings. Works for me.

Cheers
Jay

Jay - Thanks for the advice, looks like a nice set up
Tommy - I'm trying to get an idea what "cheaping out is." The guys are trying to sell me on a $500 scope, a Burris AR-332, but I'm thinking the gun would be better set up with an ACOG or HAMR. It's my first scope, so I'm trying to get an idea of what the real differences are between a $500 scope and a $2000, and where to draw the line. I've heard that you should spend on average half what you spent on the gun on the optics.

Look at a Burris QD PREPR mount, they also sell as a combo with a Burris 1-4x24 scope and a fast fire.

I didn't like the scope but kept the mount. I put a red field 4-12x40 on it. I have 6 of these scopes now, best bang for your buck in a hunting scope IMO.
