Hey guys,

I have read the FAQ and it mentions pulling one of the trigger springs to lighten and improve the trlhe trigger pull on the tavor. It also mentions that it may cause failure of the trigger to reset after a shot.

Have any of you guys done this mod? How good of an improvement do you notice? Have you had any problems after doing it? I'm guessing it's completely reversible as well. Do any of our Canadian companies make an upgraded trigger?

Thanks.

You're right to ask
Sounds like a good way to void a warrenty and/or get hurt. Dunno if I'd be worth it as all buulpups have bad triggers due to the linkage involved in their design.

The one I shot before my order had a spring removed. No problems. The trigger while lighter is however "spongy" feeling when the spring is removed. It's hard to explain.

I pulled the spring off last night. Definitely lighter pull, but like epoxy said, a little spongy. I will have to try some live firing to see how I like it.

Canam, do you know how frequent the failure of drop testing was without the spring?

Sorry, but I beat the crap out of my tavor like the red headed stepchild last week and to be honest ...it was kind of like a glock with the New York Trigger. If you try and baby it, your finger feels like its going to fall off...but if you take your sight picture, concentrate and honk on the trigger, it goes where it should.

Some competitive shooters prefer the heavier New York setup on their glocks because the heavier spring load leads to a shorter lul between when the trigger is pulled and the actual firing, so ..in theory... their inherent flinch wont have as much effect on the target. Once you adapt to this way of thinking you can plan your shot around it.

Personally, my thought it that its a cqb rifle that needs to get worn in, if after 1000+ rds Im still not happy with the trigger, Ill email doubletapper and see what the IDF guys are doing to there's.

Yours might be for cqb, but I'm using mine for gophers, and they're not too big.

What's this new York trigger stuff?

I'm gonna keep breaking mine in too, put around 400 rounds through it last weekend.

New York triggers are the long 12-14lbs pull double action only triggers. The S&W 5946 has this. Ironically this is the same pistol that the RCMP shoot. The trigger sucks on it.

If you want to hit gophers with these types of triggers, you can't think conventional target breathing and trigger pull. This won't work. Instead try, breathing in and squeezing the trigger fairly quickly (don't snap but squeeze and build momention ie your finger faster as you squeeze). The breathing in seems to help with making the pull feel lighter.

If you try to go conventional rifle with breathing out and then slowly squeezing you'll have a very hard time. The triggers on these aren't smooth enough or light enough for that style. That only works with a target trigger.

Your mileage may vary.

Cool, thanks for the info epoxy.

I had a hard time trying to target shoot with the tavor like you mentioned, I'll just pull the trigger faster, but in one clean motion without jerking it.

I just found the longer I took to aim and shoot, the worse it got for me.

Let me know how it worked for you. You should be able to tell by dry firing if this will help or not.

The one time I got to play with a Tavor (thanks Speckfire !) I just used 2 fingers to pull the trigger. Within 20 rounds I was putting round where I wanted them at up to 200 yds.
