Tavor vs. Groundhog Accuracy?

I'll give this a nudge in it's original direction...

Here's a group from last fall - 100m - from a bench, with factory loaded Federal 62gr. Optic is an EoTech Tri-Fi. Windage was great, elevation is about an inch and a bit low (all due to me). The 1x magnification of the EoTech doesn't lend itself well to precision long range shooting :D, so for groups, I just put the dot on the same spot on the paper...I'm very satisfied with the results...

I don't think you'll have any problem whapping the tar out of hogs with your setup... and I'm confident that the Tasco will hold up to the negligible recoil of the Tavor... I think your biggest concern for getting the lead on target at distance is getting familiar with the "heavier than target rifle" military trigger...

Thanks :) too bad the red dot is like looking at the end of a bingo dabber...on a side note If I hear one more fudd say "It should be Prohib!!!" I'm going to start throwing their beer bottles back at them.

Any CGNer who says that the Tavor should be prohib is a moron, a Ruger Mini-14 functions and does the same thingG:

you get what you pay for when it comes to scopes typically, but I doubt you'll be shooting it in inclement weather, so no need to worry about fogging, and .223 recoil is virtually non-existant. That scope will last for a while I would think. I just don't see the Tavor as a scoped setup, more of a quick point and shoot application as with MOST bullpups. That said, I still have to have one :)

If someone made a rear mount for the attachment point Id just put a magnifier on it and keep the factory red dot, but for now thats not an option. :(

I think its in the works by Rauch tactical. You can always do my setup. Dlask rail with Eotech and 3x magnifier

Oh my god that looks nice... I cannot wait to own this firearm. I also saw that future weapons show that showcased the Tavor, it seemed almost foolproof with its accuracy. Who cares about the $60 scope, its obviously not about his ability to buy whatever, it'll do what it has to do, if not... replacement time... But I like the above setup better.. =)

I'd rather have a $60 scope on a $3000 rifle than a $3000 scope on a $60 rifle.

You are looking at it all wrong...I'd take both! I've had some $60 shooters that were very accurate! I'd be homeless, my wife would kick my gas-maker out the house, if I came home with a $3000 gun!

sooooo... hot.... As long as you aren't having any problems with the $60 scope affecting the accuracy of the rifle, i say good on ya!

The tavor is beautiful.. wish I could have one in my hands right now...

Ive got the 24X scope mounted to my new Israeli Baby, but haven't had a chance to see how accurate it is out to 50 and 100 meters....has anyone had good results/bad results and if so what were you shooting with? 55gr or heavier? Handloads? All and All I couldn't be happier with the accessories...the Rail and Riser fit perfectly and the Cheap Tasco scope has had the crap kicked out of it over the past year or so and still works great.

$68 Dlask Rail
$60 24X Tasco scope from DelSelins
$89 1" RRA riser/mount from Questar
$3000 Tavor

If you use for hunt. that scope not so good.24x is a lot bigest for hunt.
I used same scope for test before. the result is very Bad.
and I also test some scope or red dot sight .
and last i stick with two setup.
1 is for hunt .i used Falcon Menace 1.5-5x30SIR .(that is wonderful scope)

Sorry if this is a dumb question, my knowledge is very limited when it comes to laws regarding assault rifles. Is this restricted due to the bull pup action, or is it ok for taking out in the field for yodle dogs? 223. right?
Me like!

NON-Restricted & 223 & takes all ar15 type mags, including the 10 round LAR 15 pistol mags!

TAVOR TAVOR TAVOR!!!

Cheers

The Tavor we have in Canada is not an assault rifle but is a semi automatic sporting rifle. Second it is a non restricted rifle meaning you can take it in the field and shoot gophers with it. Yes it is 5.56/.223 caliber.

The ejection port, can that be switched so that I can avoid buying a brass catcher and instead take pleasure in having a steady stream of hot brass trickling down my shirt (that will be tucked in of course, a make shift brass catcher :p )?

Seriously AmedSask. Did i JB Weld the $60 scope on? or is it held on with twist bolts? I don't make a habit of keeping scopes lying around and its the only thing I have that's not already attached to a gun. I know you've had yours longer, and have even had the luxury of doing cold tests etc. So what are you shooting? What works and doesn't work?
How you mounted the scope is not the issue, you used good stuff. Generally in life, you get what you pay for. Your $60 scope with fail. It will either not hold zero, fall apart, or just plain not work. The glass likely sucks too.

I'm running an IOR 1.1-4x optic. Haven't had much chance to shoot it but I'd trust it long before I'd trust a $60 scope to hold zero. All my rifles are shooters and get used. Rain or shine, drug through the dirt, dropped in the snow. I'm not going to use a scope that will fall apart on me.

Armedsask, he's not hitting the two way shooting range with it...I don't think his life will depend on the reliability of his scope. Sometimes I think you take this ####e to seriously :) It's all he has at the moment, I am sure he will upgrade down the road. Yes, it will likely fail at some point, but for now, I say beat every last penny out of it :)

I'm not hitting the two way range either, but if I go out shooting and my scope fails, my day is shot. My guns are useless if I can hit what I'm aiming at.

Optics are not a place to cheap out, especially on a highly capable, very expensive rifle. You wouldn't put tires from Wal-mart of a Porche, would you?

Give it a couple weeks and the OP will have a thread where we trouble shoot why he can't hit anything and it will turn out the be the scope. Or the scope will just completely break. I'm not saying to spend thousands, but at least spend over $100 and get a Bushnell.

Tasco is for .22 rim fires and people who don't want to hit anything.
