Tavor vs. Swiss Arms

I should add about the HK SL8. I like it but a few things bug me about it. The cost still seems high to me. The rail is polymer and elevated over the charging handle. You can get aluminum but more money and still not a great design for precision. Then there is the thumbhole stock...

Now there are two solutions to the thumbhole stock issue for accuracy (not G36 config). You can go the very nice and expensive ACR stock adapter or modify the original stock if you have the skill. Fireball has a great thread on how he converted his to a pistol grip. I've shot his SL8 and it shot well. It was much handier and nicer with the pistol grip. The job he did looked factory. Impressive work.

If the costs come down on the SL8 ad people flock to civie G36 versions in a few years then I migt pick one up. Right now they are expensive for what you get. Especially when I can see the ACR being around the same price and improved in a few years. The ACR one they work out weight, magnesium lowers ready to use barrels with the gas blocks and at a normal price will be an interesting rifle. For varmint style it will likely supercede the PE90 target, SL8, FS2000 etc. It won't beat an acurized AR but it will likely be the best non restricted for this purpose. I think it still needs a couple years.

Also I had some 63 RUAG ammo that apparently was 223 not 5.56 GP90. It shot like crap. Expensive mistake I made about about 5 years ago. Unfortunately it soured me a bit as I ordered 1000 rounds of it on sale. Thinking I was getting the ammo it was designed for.

Wow. Who knew?

That is weird I had amazing groups with Ruag out of my MR223 and 416 ....

RUAG is a manufacturer. They make lots of different ammunition - even in .223 / 5.56....

The most common I think in Canada outside of the GP-90 was the FMJ 63gr. And the 55gr. M193 loads - both of which came no where close to the excellence of GP-90.
