Tavor - where are you?

I took mine out today and I never had a slamfire till today. I put a five round pmag in and all five shots when down the barrel with one trigger pull. Kinda scared me but was kinda cool since I have never fired a full auto before. I actually never lost sight of the target and all 5 rounds hit their mark at 50 yards. But I got some quick comments on it from buystanders. One guy wanted to report me for having a prohibited firearm. I told him it was a slamfire and this rifle was a semi auto only. I explained that there are bolts coming for these rifles and that I wouldn't shoot it anymore. So I am lucky I brought a alot of rifles out since I was showing my buddy's girlfriend how to shoot since she is an Aussie and hasn't fired a gun before.

olegs69,

surely your avatar is in jest

Alright. I'm sure you find it hilarious, or you're severely brain damaged, but posting an avatar of a political party with a strong anti-gun platform on a firearm website is? Let me think. Purely for a reaction ie you crave mens attention. Am I right?

I've probably put about 3000 rounds through my Tavor. The first 1000 rounds were done while cleaning the gun after every range trip. The last 2000 rounds have basically been harsher. No cleaning, babying. Hell, I bang it around on purpose. You couldn't tell, it still looks pristine. I have yet to have a single malfunction (Slamfire, FTF, FTE).

My rail was homemade. I got a riser and grinded off some areas on both ends to ensure it didn't interfere with the rear iron sight, nor the front receiver part. It has worked like a charm. I just installed another ARMS mount to raise it a bit. I was having cheekweld problems when I wore anything but ear plugs. It's perfect now. I'll post some more pics tonight.

They do hold up well to abuse. I have two guns, one the demo gun with 20k, and a new one. I have to check the mag well for scuffs to see which one is which.

I found the sights, the trigger wasn't for me so I sold mine. I also like to be able to take my gun apart for thorough cleaning and with the Tavor there's screws and such to get to the op rod.
Um, that's news to me. Everything slides out the back.

How often do you pop the cylinder heads off when you do an oil change?

I, for one, am still waiting for the left-hand bolts to come in to be able to give it any kind of real attention.

CanAm, what gives?

I love mine...but want the versatility of a rail.
Any word on when they will be available?...
(I have , I hope, my name on the waiting list)....

Ive never seen through and eotech or aim point i was just wondering if the dots are small enough your could say hit a gopher or so at 100 yards or give me example of something you could shoot at say 100 yards. what is the stock sights dot size 4-5 MOA?

I will wait for the short barrelled version with a rail at reduced price or the Mepro MOR- the current configuration doesn't interest me too much. Too much $ to bin the mepro 21.

I thought you were going to get the regular Tavor and not bother waiting for the short ones.

With the stock sight, the dot size is about 6-7 MOA. Since the stock sight has no magnification, the orange dot will cover the gopher completely and more. I would recommend to change the sight if you were using the Tavor for gopher. I am looking for a 2-10X compact scope now.

No way dude check this out from EOTech;
3X_Magnifier.jpg

The 4X magnifier is an affordable magnified solution that will transition a fielded HWS into a lethal medium range optic. Superior light transmission and a large field of view helps this magnifier put the competition to shame. This rugged, streamlined optic offers split-second transitioning from CQB to medium range targeting.

4x magnifier with Flip-To-Side mount and quick detach. Works with all existing HWS units.

Yes, we would like to make a mount for that for the Tavor. Certainly a cheaper solution that the factory unit. There is also a decent Chinese copy out.

Sorry, I should have clarified. When I said the stock sight, I was referring to the MEPRO.

Only problem with the with magnifier and use of the mepro is the dot is even bigger when you magnify. But if you put an eotech on that Tavor the recticle doesn't not increase in size with the magnification. So I would think that would be ideal.
