As in life, what someone thinks of how something or someone looks is purely subjective. Look at the variety of cars out there. Some people swear by a certain car and think it's the bee's knees, whereas someone else would be mortified. Same for home decor, fashion, people's spouses / partners, etc.
I would dare say that every gun owner would have something in their collection that someone out there would not regard the aesthetics well (and vice versa). It comes down to just personal preference - not sure what benefit it is to knock a gun, for which A LOT of people would disagree with your assessment.
