Tavor X95 - Small Dents in the Brass Casings Shot Through It

Case dents and case mouth deformation is certainly not uncommon in auto loaders like these. My Swiss Arms was incredibly hard on cases as these rifles are designed to operate in the most unpleasant circumstances and situations and must extract and feed reliably.
I also have an X95 (.223 & 9mm conversion which is fantastic by the way), and like you've experienced, operates and may or may not "damage" cases. I reload and typically the case mouth is easily reformed and worst case if you feel it's too caved in for the expander ball to enter, either pop it out yourself with a pair of needle nose pliers enough to size or toss it. In my experience I've only tossed a handful because of this. I'll lose more cases due to not being able to find them after they're ejected than to case damage.
And a minor case dent won't matter on your next reload as I'm sure you're not shooting a precision rifle match out to 600m with this x95, so that minute case volume difference won't matter much.

My two cents anyway

If it's like the Swiss Arms rifles, sooner or later you'll get a nice distinctive brass blemish wherever the case mouth keeps slamming against. There's a reason most SAN rifles you see have a little piece of tape or Velcro near the ejection port.

How cold was it when you were shooting? The only other factors I can think of is condensation (especially in the nice, warm gas tube for the burnt powder to accumulate on, made worse from taking the rifle from a warm home/vehicle and right out into the cold) or whatever lubricant you were using became more viscous and things gummed up just a hair.

Ah thanks. That explains it. Very good closeups of everything. Weird that that NEVER happened on the other cases I had before though (unless PMC cases and S&B and such are stronger metal). Could just have been the rounds I used yesterday.

Wondering if I can just remove that brass deflector. At my lane on my range, NO ONE is ever within 20 feet of me (I go when it's not busy) so curious if I remove the deflector what would happen. Worse case it can be scratched up like my WK, which is pretty much just cosmetic anyway.

Thanks for the input. As for gas regulation, even if it was an option, I'd prefer to just keep things as is since the gun is working properly and I'd rather have that over than pristine brass.

I have never seen these dents in my cases coming out of my X95, but I have an aftermarket shell defector on mine that sticks out a little more then the standard one and is angled downwards to deflect the cases downwards. As I shoot it from the ejection port side at times

If you shoot it from the ejection port side without the defecter installed it will send cases into your face.

I shot my Tavor 7 like that once with the defector installed and the case still went past it and I felt a hit to my chin, I thought it was just a little brass bouncing off my chin. Until I stopped shooting and realized it was actually sore. I took a break and went to the bathroom, I could see the bottom of the case made a red burn/impresion into my chin. Wont be doing that again.
