Do any of you know anything about the new thompson centre 30 cartridge? I know it's a shortened 308 and is achieving some pretty high velocity's, but would it make a good choice for say moose or bear? I want something with good long range capability as well as punch.

im not seeing much benefit of a 30tc over the 308 and ontop of that brass and dies are going to be harder to find for the 30tc

by the looks of it they shortened the 308 base to shoulder length by 10 thou and blew out the shoulder by 10 thou. so it doesn't look like there is much difference at all besides TC gets its name on a round.

The 30tc is not a cartridge for reloading, yes in factory loads it is closer to 30-06 vel. but the factory is using a proprietory method of loading and will not let the general public know what they use. Ammunition is hard to find and last time I checked it was only available from hornady.
