I have a TC Encore Pro Hunter with a 375 H&H Magnum barrel and today when doing some dry firing while trying my new trigger pull weight gauge, the swing part of the hammer broke and fell off.

I was not using anything to absorb the impact of the hammer as I've been doing dry firings all my life with a wide range of firearms without any problems.

Attached to the swing hammer was an extension hammer device weighing 0.2 oz. and made of aluminum.

I have fired less than 40 rounds with the gun and at my last session before hunting season last fall, it miss fired a couple of time. I suspect the weight of the hammer extension combined with a weak hammer spring is the cause of the miss fires so I ordered a stronger hammer spring and a lighter trigger spring to be installed shortly.

So, after a search on the Internet without much luck, I'm wondering if anyone on here has experienced a similar thing with the swing hammer breaking. I intend to contact TC shortly and will be looking for a replacement part.

Thanks and all comments and experiences are welcome,

Thanks!

Noticed that on the TC Website..... too late but this does not say much about a piece that does nothing except to #### the hammer and just has to hang on until the firing is completed.

You can see the piece by watching the little video and clicking on the hammer area. The break is about half way and just before the checkering

A close look at the break indicates a cast piece with granular composition-probably easily breakable by repeated strong vibration.

TC has a pretty good warranty, they'll replace it no problem.
-now you know better :p

I dry fire my service rifles, pistols, machine guns etc....
When it comes to my personal firearms I always use a snap cap.
If I break a part on a svc wpn I can replace/repair it cause its my job and the gov't has plenty o'parts ;)

As for TC's warranty they've replaced a hammer for my Hawken, firing pin, firing pin sprin and firing pin bushing for my Endevour. And right now I'm waiting for a front sight for a Renegade.

Good Luck
