TC Pro Hunter comments

The recoil reduction is felt on the 7m-08 but it is a more noticeable reduction on the larger recoiling cartridges. Every gun model is going to recoil differently but what I have noticed is my old Husky 30-06 I can shoot 6 shots before pain sets in, in my Prohunter 338 Fed (same recoil energy as a 30-06) I can do 30 rounds.
With min loads in 120 grains I can keep my eyes on the target through the shot. If you get the 7mm08 in the 28" barrel you could consider it your all around as well. I routinely get velocities on par with a 24" 280 Rem. My hunting load is a 150 TTSX backed by 1 grain less than max and get 2750 fps. The hammer extension can be swivelled from right to left in a minute with an allen wrench. I would say the best thing about this gun to a new shooter is it points well.
I have a cva apex. Competition for tc is very very healthy. Keeps costs down and prices down. Blackpowder and centre fire are the same gun. If you like to try the actual gun and see it for yourself you are welcome to meet me at a range and shoot it yourself. Anyone can pull reviews off the web. Pro hunter prices will be more realistic with competition. Sorry but the gun is not worth 1000 bucks. Nice gun but a tad overpriced.

Man that is the reason the gun is so bloody expensive. Jim and a ton of hunters market this gun driving up the prices. No marketing budget and the gun is cheaper for all of us. The guys from Wildgame Innovations hunt with a cva apex.

That is a pretty lame reason to buy a gun. You should be buying it for fit, function and how it shoots. You do not buy a gun because jim shockey and all the other hunters on wildtv use it. That is why it is 1000 bucks not 600. It is a nice gun and competition is very very healthy and will keep prices down. Mike Bellm who is an expert gunsmith recommends the gun (apex). Then you should read his reviews. He knows what is it talking.
Noticed the little face with the tong sticking out? It was joke. I didn't buy it to be like Shockey. I've got a dozen other rifle in the safe including a few customs. I got my Pro Hunter just for fun and to see what all the fuss is about and to be able to just buy a new barrel when I feel like trying a new cartridge.
What the heck? That's a little strange. I bought mine new in late July or August of last year.
Anyone else have plastic studs?

I am leaving the good/bad debate alone. I have had mine for 3 years. I have 7mm Rem Mag and .243 Win barrels for it at this time. I am not a fan of the 28" barrels at all. I like the Encore 24-26" barrels much better but I do like the FlexTeck stock which you can only get on a Pro Hunter. I bought a ProHunter, sold the barrel and got the 26" heavy SS 7mmRM and the 24" standard contour in .243Win. Both shoot really well, I use a Bellm 1x pin and have done the trigger to 38ozs, I was going for 40 but got it a little too polished I guess. I could always put the next up spring in it if I really cared. All in all a great system. I am thinking about the 15" ported S&W.500 for my next purchase. That should make a fun little gun. I also did not care for the slim forend on them so I have a beautiful pair of Dr. Tony Gettels' aluminum pillar bedded forends for the different contours. All in all a great system, maybe a little overpriced but if you go with the Encore barrels it brings the cost down somewhat.
